As part of a recent weekend float trip on the Kaw River from Wamego down to Belvue, I gave Barleycorn's menu a test. Saturday morning at home I had skipped breakfast, so I was pretty hungry come noon. For lunch, then, I ordered two things off their menu that I'd never eaten before -- their Smoked Turkey sandwich and their Queso Blanco appetizer. We were there on a Monday night, passing through town on the way home, and were the only customers in there at 5:30-6:30. Very extensive menu with a lot of fun choices. My sandwich was okay, it was good, not necessarily exceptional. A little pricey, not that's probably more just a sign of current times and rise in supplies

As a local fan, this place never disappoints. It never lacks the quality in food and service. The restaurant is nearly always busy when I'm in, and yet the experience is still great.
