The specialty ramen here is top notch and unlike any other flavors you'd find elsewhere in Wichita. My personal favorites are the garlic edamame (a game changer for those that like edamame)Five Spice ramen and for the spicy fans the Tonkotsu Curry Combo ramen.

Had the Five Spice Ramen (recommended by our waitress) - was perfect for a cold winter day. Also enjoyed Sake sushi and it was by far the freshest we've had in Wichita in a long time. Would definitely recommend!

Food was perfect. Everything was spiced just right. My wife and I had a date here Saturday night and there wasn't a huge rush. I think they may be understaffed because there only appeared to be 2 people working, 1 server and 1 chef. But the chef did his job to perfection. We ordered chicken fried rice, a spicy lobster roll and a spicy California role all of which was exquisite.

This is hands down the best ramen I've tasted so far in Wichita! We got the ping pong ramen, the five spice ramen, the pork buns and the seaweed salad. It was the best dinner I'd had in a loooooooong time. There is not a question about whether I will be back or not--I'm already making plans for my next visit! Trust me, try this place and thank me later!

Sakura is my wife's and my favorite place for sushi and ramen. The hirata buns are our favorite dish in town. All of the sushi is super fresh and delicious. The kimchi and miso soup are excellent. When we venture away from the shushi and order a hot entree, we are always happy. The couple who run it are super friendly and hard-working. They are the only ones who work there, so if they are busy you might wait a bit for the food, but it's always worth it!

I recently dined at Sakura Japanese Cuisine in downtown Wichita and was impressed by the variety of authentic Japanese fare offered in a contemporary setting. For being located downtown, it's a pretty good sized restaurant with diverse menu options ranging from ramen to sushi rolls. The interior decor is modern and tranquil with some visible adjustments for social distancing between tables. This does limit the seating capacity but it was nice to see them taking safety precautions. With just a small number of staff working, the service was on the slower side, but the excellent food made the wait worthwhile.I tried the takoyaki to start, which was piping hot and flavorful. The shoyu ramen bowl was a standout with its rich, umami broth and perfect toppings of chashu pork, egg, and scallions. The sushi rolls we ordered were fresh and well-crafted.Overall, I was very happy with the authentic Japanese fare at Sakura. Between the ambiance, expansive menu, and wonderfully executed dishes, it's a great spot for Japanese cuisine in Wichita. Just allow some extra time for the food to come out and you'll leave satisfied.

We are a family of 7 with 5 young kids. Came in at lunch time on a Friday. We would have easily spent $150 before tip and gladly would have done so to support a local restaurant. The waitress asked us for our order and I tried ordering just for our children first, then would have looked over the menu to order for myself and my husband. She very shortly said “if you’re not ready I’m not gonna take your order. I have one chef only. He makes it all at once. So you wanna order now? You ready? If not I’ll come back.” Now, I understand that times are tough right now. I understand business owners are spread thin and tired. But I am not keen on spending good, hard earned money just to be treated like an inconvenience. If you are just a small group of young adults or a couple on a date with no time constraints then by all means, support a well loved local business that looks to have amazing food. But if you are on a time crunch, have young children with you, or prefer to order more than once (I love ordering as I go but that seemed not allowed here) then take your business somewhere else.

I've been coming to Sakura for several years now, and the main thing that keeps me coming back beyond the food is the service. This place is run by a husband/wife duo. Even when they are busy they're extremely attentive to their customers, super friendly, and even when I go a long while without coming in they always remember my order when I do eventually return, which is an excellent, personalized touch. My typical order is the pan fried gyoza and tonkotsu miso ramen with pork belly. The broth is always very flavorful, the noodles have the right amount of chew, and the pork belly is absolutely delicious - always well seasoned and tender. Love that the elements are always consistent and tasty, and you actually get quite a bit of food for the price; I almost always have enough ramen for two separate meals. If you're looking to support local, have some excellent ramen, and a nice spot to sit a while and chat with company, I highly recommend giving Sakura a visit.

Their pork belly is to die for! I usually get a simple veggie ramen no matter where I go, but my friend highly recommended the pork belly and it was such a great choice. The meat is so thick, tender, and perfectly charred. The price is great for how good the slices of meat are, and its all around a great place to eat. Our waitress was so sweet and funny too, and I felt at home. Thanks Reagan for recommending Sakura to me!
