Fabulous home cooked comfort food! Unfortunately, they are closing their doors after 87 years!

Wonderful variety of traditional southern comfort food serve dinner served in a very cozy space by an excellent staff - if I could rate the service separately, I'd give them a 10. I was impressed with the speed our entrees were prepared. I ate in this restaurant two years ago and it was a wonderful experience then and it still is.

This was our first experience here and I have to say I was underwhelmed. The atmosphere was pleasant, the service was good, but for the price it wasn't that good. I'm glad we tried it, but we will not be going back.

This place has been an institution for us . Would meet my daughter from St. Catherine College. I live in Mt.Washington and was a great middle of week visit for us...85 years of history. Will be sad for it to leave...they need to wrote a cookbook.

Amazing southern fare. Great service. Fried cornbread was amazing with the meal.

Nice location. Friendly staff. The corn cakes and cole slaw were very tasty. Fried chicken and roast beef were on par with Arby's. Definitely not worth the price. Enjoyed the mint Julip, but not worth $10.00.

Let's start with the positives. The atmosphere is great. Very homey and charming with tables in various rooms of an old stone building. You can tell there is a lot of history associated with this place. The service was also fantastic. Unfortunately, the only positive about the food was the salad. Delicious homemade dressing and fresh beets. The rest of the meals were disappointing, to the steak, chicken and pork chop. The mashed potatoes even tasted like instant. If you have a choice, skip this spot and try some of the other destinations in Bardstown.

Was a random stop and it is not regretted. Such a interesting location and the staff was great.

Very nice family owned Restaurant, the food was delicious and the staff were very attentive and nice. Y'all made it a great evening for dinner with the family. I definitely recommend coming here if you haven't before you enjoy a meal and the atmosphere of a home cooked meal.

Really good quality home cooked food. I had a prime rib special wife had cod. All meals come with bread, pickled beets and pickled cukes and onions. All good. Service was fast and efficient. Our only complaint would be on prices. There aren’t many options for what i would consider lunch prices or $10-15. If you are ok paying $25 per person for lunch you’ll do fine here. Same menu for dinner where prices seem more in line. Keep in mind everything from food to service was very good.

I wish I could give Kurtz 10 STARS! It's THAT GOOD! The building is very old and an absolute classic. You walk in the door and it's like walking into someone's home. It's cozy and heart warming. The staff is so friendly! We ordered fried chicken and it was top notch!! A 1/4 chicken is tender, flavorful, juicy and fried to perfection. It's served with creamy mashed potatoes (they're silky smooth and I believe whipped with cream cheese) and milk gravy and fresh green beans. They also serve fried corn bread and homemade dinner rolls. My husband ordered the Kentucky Combination which was 1/4 fried chicken and fried country ham. Of course it was also amazing. He ordered Cole Slaw with his and it was so unique and tasty. I could've ordered that family style it was so great! They offered you pickled beets with your dinner. I thought they would be shareable but they actually brought a small bowl for each of us. My daughter requested spaghetti and meatballs, which wasn't even on the menu but they made it for her! Talk about accommodating. We ordered mint juleps as the perfect cocktail for our dinner. Little did we know that is their signature drink. They even grow the mint for their drinks! For dessert we ordered Chocolate Meringue Pie and Biscuit Pudding with Bourbon Sauce. Both are highly recommended. If you get a chance to come to Bardstown or anywhere near it, you MUST go there! They even have a motel so maybe you can stay and enjoy their dinner as well.

Not very handicapped accessible. It is on a hill and very hard for elderly to get up the hill.

Great fresh home cooked food. Everything was delicious including the fried corn bread. I had the turkey dinner and my girlfriend had the burger. Even with the burger she raved about how fresh it was. They have been in business for a long time and one meal will tell you exactly why. You won't get a meal this good at very many restaurants. Make sure to stop by if you're ever in town.
