What a wonderful atmosphere. The drinks are great and the food tastes like the chef picks the most quality ingredients. Every dish I've had here has been fantastic. It is always better to make reservations here since life after COVID hours may vary.

Amazing food and wine paring. Thank you for offering take out!So Jane Barleycorn is now our favorite dinner take out in Danville. The 3-course meals are AMAZING and the recommended wine pairings are great!

Admittedly, it is a difficult time to be a Yelper if you (like me) love to try out new restaurants, take photographs of scrumptious and delicious entrees, and share reminisces of culinary expeditions. It is not unlike Harry Potter's experience in The Prisoner of Azkaban, watching close friends Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley travel to the all-wizarding village of Hogsmeade without him because Harry couldn't secure proof of consent from his dreadful guardians, the Dursley's. Most if not all of us are limited to takeout meals for our own safety and the safety of the wonderful chefs and staffs who prepare our food. Our current situation has given me the opportunity to relay my parents' praise and review of their favorite restaurant: Jane Barleycorn's Market and Bar located at 130 South Fourth Street in Danville, Kentucky. Wisely adhering to takeout only, my parents thoroughly enjoyed each of their entrees and their shared dessert before my mother penned the following review, which I share with her permission:"Our take-out meal from Barleycorn's was truly gourmet delicious. Neil had a nicely spiced Bahn Mi Sandwich of citrus pulled pork with home made pickles, chili mayo, and ginger slaw. I had a rainbow trout with lettuce, tomato and lemon-caper mayo. The bagettes were perfectly crispy on the outside and freshly soft on the inside. For dessert we chose lava cake with blood orange sauce. It was a warm, smooth, melt-in-your mouth satisfying chocolate experience. Mary Robin always goes out of her way to meet any special requests we have and we can not praise her establishment enough."

Spectacular selection of whiskey's from around the world, particularly bourbon and rye. Delightful atmosphere and astoundingly knowledgeable staff. I never miss this stop when I'm in Danville.

Mary Robin (aka Jane Barleycorn ) in my mind is the most inventive chef this town has available. Everything I’ve ordered has been delicious. I especially like the eclectic decorating.

Nope. Don't go here unless you are a local. Started super friendly at first but when they found out we were running a Ragnar service got slow and rude. 3 other tables to include another group of 6 that got there after us, got served first. They are not vegetarian friendly or really visitor friendly. They told our vegetarian that a meatball shouldnt be a problem. Cold pastas, cold plates. Cold apps took an hour (deviled eggs, cold beer cheese and hard pretzels). When we brought up our concerns, they told us that Ragnar people are "always a problem." Hmm, the other table.of Ragnar people got served first and within 30 mins..but they grow up in this town. Our friend didn't want to pay the 20% included gratuity and got into a polite yet forceful conversation. They kicked her out. There was no yelling, no cursing. This event brings ALoT of money to your economy. You deserve to be treated with respect, but so do we.

Superb! The owner Mary served our group of 16 with the best service and food imaginable and the price was totally fair. PS thanks for the cigars at a great price and free matches!

Very nice little local spot with a nice bar and gourmet food on a rotating, seasonal menu. We were here on a Saturday night during parents weekend at Centre, and they had a live band playing, just a little too loudly, but still enjoyable.

If they could let me do zero stars I would. First off we were a team of 6 from out of town who found this place on yelp. Great reviews so we tried it. We got in around 645 and order 3 appetizers as well as our food. 3 other tables came, ordered, ate, paid and left and we still hadn't gotten our food. We told the waiter separate checks and she made a show of getting our names to do so also saying she could accommodate a vegetarian. One of our group got his full order of a salad and pretzels and cheese a full 45 minutes later while the rest of us still waited. We had to remind the lady of our two other appetizers. At about an hour of waiting I went to another host and mentioned it was a ridiculously long wait for food with others having eaten and gone which he apologized for and said he'd check on it. Finally two other orders came out one for our vegetarian and it had a meatball. Still the rest of the food trickled one by one mine being last. Meatballs and pasta. MY FOOD WAS COLD! At this point I was not hungry anymore as we had waited an hour and 15 minutes for cold food I refused to eat it.When time to pay that's when the owner came by and could not figure out the separate checks then to find out that gratuity was included...I could not stand for that and said as much. It was not told to us prior and they DID NOT DESERVE A SINGLE CENT! When I said so to the owner she had the audacity to give me attitude with *you know what I'm aware you guys were a larger group and we were busy* WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE WHEN WE GOT THERE, the place filled up fast afterwards. I was pissed! She then had the nerve to cut me off and say she'd get back to me.I turn to my friend to discuss how dissatisfied I was and the owner rudely cut me off to jump in my conversation. I flat out called her rude and she continued with her crappy attitude blaming our race group from last year of expecting things right away and impeccable service. Wanting warm food in a timely manner is apparently asking too much. I got up to speak to another employee only to have the owner follow me and get in my face saying she could fire customers and she was firing me. To get out of her restaurant or she'd call the cops. SHE GOT IN MY FACE, I had to tell her to back up and not touch me. Jane/Ana/whatever the heck her name is I sincerely hope you see this because you are a horribly rude person who clearly does not know what customer service is.

It's really a nice place, just prejudice against a group of people who bring a LOT of money to this town!

Jane Barleycorn's is an awesome bistro and bar with a polished rustic semi-industrial atmosphere. The menu is regularly updated and is always loaded with refined choices. We always enjoy the three cheese board, last night we picked a soft rich French cheese, an aged gouda, and a locally made Italian herb cheese. On the board was a tangy sweet sauce of cranberries, a plumb jam, and a savory cream spread. Last night I enjoyed the duck confit risotto, favorite of the table, it was rich and savory with amazing duck flavor throughout, contrasted with ripe cherries, and greens mixed with granny smith apple slices. Also on the table was a Thai inspired spicy citrus laap bowl, and the Jimmy Bradley Salad of fondue gruyere, bacon, potatoes topped with fresh arugula for a cheesy rich savory salad.JB's doesn't just shine on their plate offerings but also in the glass! Whether you fancy a fruity martini, or a classic cocktail you'll find a great selection. Their wine selection rivals some of the best in larger cities, and if you like bourbon then you will be pleased with the range of choices from the classic to the hard to find top shelf sips.If you're making plans you'd do well to call ahead and get reservations since the seating is limited.

The whiskey menu is great, but don't order food unless you want to spent six hours waiting. And odds are, they'll wait 20 minutes before realizing they're out of it.

Wandered on this gem while visiting my parents. People of Danville, don't take this place for granted. I didn't have enough time to try the food, but the wine shop is wonderfully curated with high quality, boutique wines at exceptional prices. Oenophiles in Danville should thank their lucky stars! My next trip to Danville will include a visit to this place. Guaranteed!
