TLDR: go here, order everything, have no regrets! We hadn't been since they moved to Newport. The building is an adorable converted home with fun and beautiful decor. The staff is all friendly and attentive. Our server Kelly was fantastic! Everything is priced reasonably, especially considering what a unique and high-quality experience you get.Our food was phenomenal: Eggplant Napoleon, Classic Buttermilk Biscuits, Angry Orchard Cider Onion Soup, Fried Chicken & Waffle, and Voodoo Salmon with Safron Purloo.I went there with my spouse and we ended up taking home 2 biscuits, half of each entree (chicken and salmon), and the table bread. So come hungry and plan to take home lunch for the next day!Biscuits: 4 biscuits. Came with honey, butter, and jam. A southern staple perfectly executed.Eggplant: I will dream about this for years to come. If you have never tried eggplant, this is the fish that will make you a believer. Eggplant was thinly sliced and breaded. Not slimy (if you eat eggpant you know this is always a risk at restaurants). The cheese in between laters tasted like soft seasoned cream cheese. The red sauce was also well seasoned and full of veggies. Mmmmmm.Soup: kind of like a BBQ French onion. These ppl know how to layer flavors so well. Every bite you can identify something new.Chicken & Waffles: the breading on the chicken is devine! There's a reason they're famous for Chicken. Sweet potato Waffle, bacon, pecan butter- what's not to love?Voodoo salmon: nice crispiness on the outside of salmon, but still fell apart wonderfully (how perfectly cooked fish should). Sauce, rice, andouille, crawfish- fancy southern at its finest.Thank you to all the Purple Poulet staff- you are part of something really special!

I’m so disappointed that we arrived 40 minutes before closing and were told they stopped seating for the night. We were so looking forward to trying Purple Poulet. Please include in your Google and Yelp profiles what time you stop seating. Closing at 9:00pm on a Friday night is already super early but to be turned away at 8:20pm is really bad. ?

The best fried chicken I have ever had, some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever had, and the complementary corn bread and orange cranberry bread was phenomenal. This is maybe the best comfort food I've had, it didn't feel like it was trying to be fancy which you might think looking at the cost of the fried chicken dinner. Everything was done at the highest level possible and it made the cost well worth it. If you are ever in the Cincinnati area looking for comfort food this is a place well worth trying. Also they have a fantastic bourbon selection which I didn't try much of or look at too much.

My friend and I met there to have dinner and catch up and we had a wonderful experience. We sat at the bar and Taylor and Dylan took great care of us and were super friendly and sociable. I started my meal with a strawberry mint julep and it was refreshing. I am a deviled egg snob and this was my frist time trying deep fried deviled eggs and they were incredibly good, I like how there were 6 deviled eggs but 3 different flavored ones. It's perfect for splitting with someone. I was also surprised when a palette cleanser came out, it was a blood orange sorbet I believe. I ordered the fried chicken with green beans and buttermilk bacon mashed potatoes and it was all soooo delightful. Everything was perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection and that fried chicken tempurature wise comes out hot. It's a lot of food and I definitely needed a to go box for a second meal. The meal came out with two types of cornbread, traditional and choclate chip. I normally don't order dessert out but decided since everything was so good I had to try the dessert, I got the pecan pie and if there wasn't so many people around I would have licked all the caramel sauce clean off that bowl. It's definitely a great place to go if you want to treat yourself to excellent food and service.

The chicken was soooooo good definitely the best I've had in the tri-state period, the mashed potatoes were excellent and I even thoroughly enjoyed my beans and trust me I'm not a green bean girl type girl unless it's in a casserole and beyond recognition but these might have changed my mind lol. Remember to make a reservation before you come here or come early enough that you can grab a spot at the bar. Also the bartenders here are fantastic and knowledgeable it seemed as if all of the staff there were. I will be back no doubt ☺️

The bar is beautiful, and if you're a bourbon lover they have it all. Our cocktails were tasty. We enjoyed the deep fried deviled eggs, especially the ones with the sweet peppers on top. The halibut special was my favorite and the salmon was awesome, too! The fried chicken was seasoned perfectly and was juicy and crunchy. Service was excellent. This place is great if you're a lover of southern comfort foods and if you're looking for a tasty twist.

We had a party of 10 that was in the private room near the kitchen. Everything was absolutely amazing ?. We ordered just about everything on the menu ( apps, dinner's, cocktails and desserts) , everyone trying something different and every dish was perfectly cooked and presented beautifully. We were loud ( 10 females ?) but didn't disturb anyone since we were in the private room. The staff was very attentive and professional. It was a perfect place and we can't wait to do it again!
