Dinner at Gumbo Ya Ya was very fulfilling for us! I chose the vegan option of Veggie Pazole Stew on rice. The medley of legumes mixed with corn, plus a tad bit of spice was so hearty. Every meal comes with garlic bread on the side. I asked about the ingredients and the bread is most definitely not vegan! You can choose between a small or large plate as well.Dietary restrictions: Non•Dairy option is available!
The food was delicious, and it is worth it because they serve a lot of food for the price.

Order a half-and-half plate of Gumbo over Grits and Lobster/Shrimp Creole over White Rice. Everything was absolutely delicious and very flavorful. The Grits are absolutely outstanding, although there is a $2 upcharge, totally worth it. I paid $17 for the plate and a drink. If you're looking for a good Cajun/Creole place, you can't go wrong here.

Sorry to be a hater but this place's level of spicy is too much. I've tried three dishes and they all tasted like cayenne pepper. Put it down. Use another seasoning. I get it Cajun food can be spicy but not every single dish. I love moderation when it comes to spicy. Their local Cajun competitors don't burn your mouth with every dish. You can add hot sauce you can't take it out.

I got the crawfish etouffee. I ordered the large size, which is plenty for lunch or dinner. It was perfectly seasoned. This restaurant has the best crawfish etouffee in town. The prices are reasonable and you get free refills on your drinks. There is free parking and you hardly have to walk at all from your car to the door. I can't wait for Mardi Gras. The shrimp and lobster combo etoufee is great, too. Be sure to order a large. The lines are long on Mardi Gras. The spinach and mushroom etouffee, and the voodoo red beans as well as the chicken etouffee are also all fantastic.

I have eaten hereat least once a week for 3 years. Hell I've even eaten there twice in one day. In the most part always get the same thing jambalaya, or chicken Creole but I've had everything on the menu at least once and they are all keepers. It's always reasonable and you get plenty to eat. And I'm a big eater. So if you've never been check it out. I'll bet you would be back!Vegetarian options: I am not a vegetarian but there are my friends who go that are and love it

If you want a bunch of rice, this is your spot. Gumbo was lacking in flavor and protein. The sausage was sliced paper thin, chicken was barely in the mix but lots of miniature shrimp. I would not go out of my way to eat here again. Bourbon and Toulouse is much better and you can do half and half.

Fantastic! My first experience with jambalaya or gumbo. I was always afraid to try because I didn't want to be discouraged on a subpar place. Tried this place out since so many people said it was good. It was even better than I had hoped it would be. The guy taking orders was patient with how long I took to decide what I wanted and he answered my questions and provided explanations well. The dining area was comfortable, didn't feel tight between tables. The music was wonderful and at the perfect level. The price and portions were perfect! Might be my new favorite place, can't wait to go back!

Excellent food, and really budget friendly! I got vegan dish and it tasted great! Even their garlic bread was vegan! I ordered small plate but it was really generous portion and I couldn’t even finish it.
