We love Michikusa! My favorite dish is the Spicy Miso Ramen. It's pictured here with pork but I usually sub tofu. We also love the edamame, gyoza, and sushi rolls.

My favorite restaurant in Lexington. I love the spicy miso ramen, horse mackerel sushi, freshwater eel, octopus vinegar salad, and the nabayaki upon. Come here about once a week!

Don't expect service like a big chain restaurant. Also can be slow. But, but, if you really like close-to-real japanese food this is the place. Worth the wait! Best Nanban Eggplant and Plum rolls!

Michikusa Japanese Restaurant. This is my second time having lunch here and I’ve made up my mind: this is one of the most authentic Japanese restaurants in Lexington, KY.The owner himself Hiroshi Aoyagi, who is also the chef, will fix your sushi and your perspective on sushi in general. I’ve been to Japanese restaurants that, within the first and second visit, the salmon sashimi cut got significantly smaller just like my paycheck after tax.But not Michikusa, no sir. In my second visit, the salmon is just as plump fresh and juicy as the first one. As a Christian, my meal here even made me pray twice: one standard prayer for before meal, and one after meal to thank the Good Lord for salmons. I don’t know about you but I think that salmons are also wonderfully made.I started with Agedashi Tofu and went with one of their lunch special options: Mini Salmon-don with half Udon/Soba. Udon and Soba are both noodles and due to my high blood pressure, I googled real quick which one is healthier then elegantly asked for Soba, please. I looked like I know what I’m doing, I wish my mom were here to see it It’s worth noting that 18% gratuity (tip) is automatically added to your bill so when the bill arrives, what you pay is what you see. I like that. I always have a hard time counting tip and math. They are just not my love language.I know I’ll be back and you should try it out, too! Aoyagi Hiroshi-san, arigatōgozaimashita!

This is, by far, our favorite place to eat in Lexington. The sushi is fantastic and the chefs are incredibly welcoming. If you go, sit at the bar and enjoy the service. And, if you enjoy the experience, don’t forget to buy the chefs a beer. :)

Hiro is the best sushi chef in Lexington and this has been true for over 20 years. He was at Tomo for most of the time it was open until he opened Michikusa. His sushi is PERFECT, as is the sashimi and noodle bowls. You just can't go wrong at this place. It's a hidden gem off of Richmond Road. We don't eat sushi any other place any more because no one can top him. Service is wonderful as is the ambiance. Book a reservation because he gets busy!

Place was very busy on a weekday evening. We got seated by the counter but had a wait a long time to be served and for our food. There was only one staff member working front of house as well as serving all the tables. Food tasted fairly good though.

This place is amazing! Service is amazing, ambience is amazing, and the food is phenomenal. Best ramen I've ever had and certainly the best nigiri in all of Lexington. I can't recommend this place enough! Can't wait for our next visit.

Michikusa was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor was traditional yet modern, and the soft lighting created a cozy and intimate setting. But the real star of the show was the food. The spicy miso katsu ramen was out of this world. The spider roll was better than expected. The tempura sabo was just as expected. There were two shrimp and three vegatables, very perfectly battered. The sabo noodles came in a miso soup and was very hot when served. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable as well. Fast and accurate. Overall, I would highly recommend. 5 stars

Amazing food, amazing chef, and excellent service! I’ve been to a lot of Japanese restaurants all over, this is the best one by far. I always try something new when I visit along with my standard sashimi order and it is always superb! Already looking forward to my next visit!
