This place was fantastic. The gardenside area has needed a classic Mexican restaurant for a while and Monarca did not disappoint. The quesadilla de birria was incredible. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was very cozy.

Every time I go in here the food is just incredible. The cheese is excellent. And the food always seasoned perfectly! Def a must try in Lexington for avid Mexican food lovers! I did a special order a chicken steak shrimp Bandido on the spot !

Stopped in for a late lunch, everything was clean and inviting with lively music playing. We were sat immediately and Reina brought chips and salsa. I'm not usually a huge salsa lover but wow...just wow...such good flavor, not too cilantro-y or hot. I ordered lunch fajitas and my husband ordered pollo bandito and a bowl of queso. The queso was so smooth and creamy and it had a really really good cheese flavor. I didn't catch much seasoning in it but it was such a a luxurious texture that I didn't mind at all. The food came pretty quickly and the portions were probably twice what we could eat in one sitting. Everything looked really great and tasted even better. We are already talking about going back. Solid lunch spot for sure. Fantastic job guys!!

My husband son and I are Mexican food lovers! We could literally eat it every single day, so when we found out Monica was opening literally 5 minutes away from our house we were pretty excited. When they first opened we went there every single day and always ordered the same thing which is chicken fajitas with only the chicken and green peppers no onions or tomatoes. We get extra chicken and extra green peppers , a cheese dip, and then the chips and salsa that comes with the meal. Every single time the mail has came to $26.75. well here lately we haven't been going to the restaurant I've been calling the order in and going to pick it up the same exact order and it is always still been $26.75. well tonight that's what we decide to do and when I walk in to pay for my order somebody informs me that they have to charge me for the extra chicken which will make my order $35.70. and I'm not going to lie I kind of got upset and angry because I've been coming here for months and they have never charged me that much for my meal. I hate even sounded like this type of person because it has nothing to do with the moneyit's just the fact that out of nowhere my meal is now almost $10 more than what it's been the whole time we've been coming here. And most of the time when I order on the phone they don't tell me the total but this time I asked them for the total and on the phone they told me $26.75 but waited until I got there to tell me that it would be $35.70. needless to say I'm at El Toro sitting in the parking lot because I can get all of that for $30 and in my opinion the food here is a little bit better.
