The food and service from this establishment is nothing short of pure authenticity! I have had French cuisine in both France and Belgium and this exceeded all expectations. The owner is one very consummate professional in how he cares about his guests. Also, Tom needs to be recognized for his outstanding service and pacing of our meal. Thank you to the owner, server Tom and especially the chef for what was a great experience.

In short, food choice, presentation & taste was excellent. Service from entrance to exit could not have been better and is some of the best, and personal, in Louisville. In more detail, tables are wide spaced and thoughtfully placed. Interior surfaces were selected with care. The result was a very quiet table by today's standards. The atmosphere is great for a romantic diner, Holiday meal, first date or 35 year marriage date night. This was our replacement for the planned Valentine's diner of this year that had to be cancelled. Every attempt was made by each member of the restaurant's staff to recreate our missed evening of 3 weeks ago. Brasserie Provence is our new “go to” restaurant! Nice job guys?

Members of my party Ordered mushrooms and crab cake. Mushrooms were delicious crab cake was void of crab meat and tasted like cornmeal. Hamburger and furs, both always good and grilled chicken sandwich with fries. Fries are delicious, always chicken sandwich was just ok. Waiter was just ok. Not very attentive and gave off the feeling that he didn't have time for us. We eat dinner hear frequently and I think the lesson learned is that we will stick with dinner and not eat here for lunch

The food was excellent and such a treat. It was my Father's birthday and mine as well and we were treated so well by the restaurant. Great place to celebrate with very good food and service.

The food, service and atmosphere all surpassed my expectations. This was my first visit but definitely not my last. I can't wait to try other things on the menu. I highly recommend the crab cake, croque madame and tropezienne. Delicious!

My wife and I dined here for Valentines day and won't be back. The service was awful, our server seemed more like he was at a funeral than a fancy restaurant. He never once asked if we wanted more wine and disappeared after taking our order. The filets were very over cooked, the broccolini cold and undercooked, and the potato was overdone and dry. The creme brulee crust was far too thick to break through and was just a puddle of flavorless sugar beyond that. Compared to Jeff Ruby's, this was a huge letdown and not a good example of fine dining.

Came here for Valentines Dinner. We were sat quickly, with no wait. We ordered off the Special Valentines menu. The food runner took our entree to the wrong table 3 times. She was obviously lost and didn't know which table was which. We could hear the chef cussing at the staff members from the kitchen. Once our entree did arrive, the steak was cold and the potatoes were inedible. Overall, it was not a good experience. Especially for a meal that cost us over $300.

My sister and I went for Restaurant Week and it was the first time there for both of us. We ordered the restaurant week menu offerings which included French onion soup. The tomato and goat cheese tart and macarons. We added the cast iron mushrooms and asked our server for sparkling wine suggestions to complement our meal. This was one of the best meals I've ever had. Everything was delicious. I will definitely go back

Was dining with a friend. Our first time to dine at Brasserie Provence. Our server was adequate. Lacked energy. He knew that we were newbies to to the menu, as my friend had some questions about the menu, and French cuisine. We were not in a hurry to order, as we had not seen each other for some time, our server kept appearing, and we felt obligated to order. I asked for the bread basket, EVEN THOUGH, it stated on the menu that bread was $3.00! I have NEVER been to a restaurant that charges for BREAD, and the bread was NOTHING SPECIAL, it was just a small loaf of sliced bread, served with olive oil and very hard to spread butter. We waited a while for our dinner. I had ordered a shrimp with pasta dish, and my friend ordered the chicken. My pasta dish was room temperature when it was served. I did not complain, or ask for it to be warmed up, because I did not want the dish to be overheated in a microwave. The dish was fair. Nothing special. Shrimp was lacking any flavor, some of the pasta was a bit chewy. My favorite thing about the dish, was the artichokes. Chicken dish was ok, per my friend. She said that chef had gone very heavy on the rosemary. We opted not to have dessert or coffee. I had one glass of wine, a basket of bread, and my entree. My bill alone with tip was close to $60.00. Needless to say, we were both disappointed with our experience, thus, the very FAIR review, and no to recommending a friend.

Always a pleasant experience. Service is attentive but not intrusive, the menu offers many options without being overwhelming, and it's possible to have a conversation at a normal speech level.

If you're looking for authentic French bistro cuisine while in Louisville, this is one of the two places you'll want to go. Is it Paris or Cannes or Nice? No. Is it New York? No. But, if that's what you're craving why I are you reading this review. However, if you're in Louisville and want tasty, well prepared and presented French bistro cuisine (not Haut Cuisine), then this restaurant will provide you with that along with a good overall dining experience. On top of that the owner is a very charming host.

Had Valentines dinner there and for the price, was very disappointed. Oyster (1) at beginning was pathetic. Appetizer with one, yes one, small scallop was laughable. Steak was cooked ok, but lukewarm. Service for 20% auto gratuity and $7 surcharge (whatever that is) was lacking. Had a nice time with my lovely wife, but won't be back to Provence.
