Every day the Greipel Family and their staff gives their best and it is a reflection of their passion for authentic German food and hospitality.

By far the best German food in Louisville. My parents have been coming since they opened, I've had my birthday dinner here 18 years in a row. Love this place so much!!!

Grandma's cooking! What a lovely small restaurant, offering authentic German home cooking. The soup and entree tasted like they came from my grandma's kitchen.Coupled with the service, which was welcoming and friendly, I definitely look forward to visiting the Gasthaus again.

This place was incredible! Every single thing was delicious. The chicken Florentine special was absolutely phenomenal, the weiner schnitzel was almost as good (and believe me, that's a statement) but the desserts took the proverbial cake. The chocolate souffle was rich and decadent, while still light and airy. The strawberry Napoleon was perfection on a plate! And the lemon roll was the perfect light finish after everything else! I'll definitely be back sooner than later. Go try it for yourself, you won't be disappointed!

This is The first time I’ve had food at a German restaurant. Not only was the atmosphere fun, but also relaxing and nice for a date night for my fiancé and I… The staff was incredibly helpful in selecting our dishes and they were incredibly friendly as well. The food was so amazing! So good, that we actually ordered every dessert they had to go because we didn’t have room after dinner, haha. I will definitely be going back— Also, The prices are beyond reasonable. I highly recommend!

The best of the best of the best! Our favorite meal of the YEAR! We visit Louisville once a year and visit the Gasthaus when we're here, and it never disappoints. The food is perfection, the setting transports you to a Bavarian alpine village, and the service is EXCEPTIONAL. Highly recommend.???

Last night I had curbside take out from Gasthaus German Restaurant and it was absolutely delicious! I had Jaeger Schnitzel and it was perfectly prepared with mushrooms and a delectable gravy! The sauerkraut added for the side was creamy and yummy. I topped it of with the Black Forrest cake and it was perfection! What a wonderful meal!!

It is the only German restaurant in Louisville unless you include Check's Brats in Schnitzelburg. I think the Gasthaus is better than those in the Jasper/French Lick Area. There was a decent one in Evansville but I think it closed. They have a good selection of wine also but it kills me to pay the price of a bottle for a glass. (I come from frugal German Stock. My daddy is an Arehart and my Mommy a Scherzer) The wait staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. wines and beers. We spent twice this at the steakhouse up the road the week prior and the ambience and quality was so much better here. You know a restaurant has to be excellent when the are only open Tue-Sat and after 6pm.

this is simply a very good option for German food in The Louisville region. The food is very authentic, served hot and with amazing quality. The menu has a very nice selection and the staff and owner are always excellent. unlike many German restaurants, this one has a very good selection of desserts which you should order on the way in before you sit down which is a pro tip. excellent place to eat

Man am I glad my boyfriend didn't let me settle for Mexican tonight. We have been wanting to try this place FOREVER. It certainly did not disappoint. The quaint building front in a shopping center doesn't like look much (almost as if it's trying to be hidden) but as soon as you walk in the atmosphere engulfs you. It's warm, friendly, and we left feeling like regulars. I had the Jäger Schnitzel. I won't pretend to be a chef, but I think it was fried to perfection. At least tasted that way. My boyfriend Stroganoff was gone in a blink of an eye if that says anything. We washed it down with one of the many homemade desserts, Cherry Strudel. I cannot wait to go back!

Yummy, yummy, YUMMY! The food here is so good and reminded me of my Oma's cooking from my childhood. I highly recommend getting the jaeger schnitzel! The only downside to this restaurant is that you absolutely must make a reservation in order to eat here. This is because the restaurant is a cozier size than most other places now. But the atmosphere is fantastic. It's definitely like stepping into another world for a couple hours!

Restaurant offers authentic homemade German cuisine in Louisville. The homemade mulling wine warmed the heart during a chilly night and the desserts were outstanding and also main in house. If you are searching for true German cuisine, look no farther while in Louisville.
