First time and everything was so great! Loved the coffee and felt it was as close to Europe's coffee I've been able to find! Avocado toast, frittata and coffee cake were all so fresh and flavorful!

Gralehaus rivals any eatery you might encounter in New York or Chicago. I wandered in on a partly cloudy Monday afternoon in March. First was the Maca Mocha. It had a nice cocoa flavor without being bitter or overly sweet. About fifteen minutes later the Ugly Frittata arrived at my table. The crème fraîche added a sumptuousness to the fluffy eggs so that the edges didn't feel overly dry, while the veggies on top provided an occasional crunch and a tanginess that really expanded the flavor of the dish. The picture I took doesn't adequately depict the outsized egg entree. It rests inside a shallow bowl, about ten inches across, making it one of the more filling options on the menu. Thankfully, the frittata holds its heat for a long time, allowing you to slow down and savor. It's the perfect meat-free option for one very hungry person or for two lightly fed people looking to share. At ten minutes to closing time and in defiance of my satiety, I approached the cashier and requested a slice of their Best Damn Coffee Cake. And since every coffee cake deserves a good coffee, I added a nitro cold brew to my order. The cold brew came to the table almost instantly, followed a few minutes later by the cake. I started to snap a picture, unconcerned with the sensory experience at hand, when a waft of warm cinnamon hit my nose, a reminder to pause and relish the moment. The cake is creamy and spongy at the same time, thanks to a gooey layer of brown sugar and cinnamon resting directly beneath the crunchy topping. It pairs well with the delicate effervescence of the nitro cold brew. All told my dining experience lasted an hour and fifteen minutes (the staff graciously allowed me to stay past closing time to finish my repast). My advice: save your visit to gralehaus for when you have to time to slow down and savor the experience. The warm atmosphere and made-to-order dishes beg an extra few, crucial moments of your day.

Lived up to the hype! Just was really glad we were in town through a Monday … tried Sunday and it was a 90 min wait, today we sat right down. Delicious Kentucky Croque, Trout Dip, and simple salad. Only minus - I really wanted a Diet Coke. Friendly staff and accommodating. Street parking plentiful.

My husband and I come to Louisville yearly for a music festival and we dream about this meal. Not kidding...some of the best grits I've ever encountered. They have an enticing menu full of creative dishes, and with the open kitchen layout, it is a treat to watch the chefs do their thing.

Wow, this place is a "hidden" gem.Coffee was excellent; perfectly textured milk and a balanced espresso profile.Food was outstanding; the "shroom n grits" was surprisingly complex and unexpectedly delicious. Totally balanced and super filling. The vibe is quaint; the Cafe is on the bottom floor of an old Victorian. Natural light is filtered by the curtains and the compact space feels cozy instead of cramped. Can't recommend this place enough.Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options!

Some friends took me to Gralehaus for brunch for my birthday and it was an amazing experience. The people who worked there were lovely and the food was delicious. It was a little small in there but it didn't feel cramped.

My favorite breakfast and brunch place in Louisville. The food is EXCELLENT every single time. Whatever you order add sourdough bread. Trust me. Cocktail and coffee are both delicious. Service is wonderful.

A must-stop breakfast spot in Louisville. We visited from out of town (Nashville) and were blown away by how adorable Gralehaus was and the surrounding neighborhood. After finding out this spot is also a bed and breakfast, we plan to make another trip to Louisville and stay at their B&B! The interior is gorgeous, though we sat outside to enjoy some sun. My only suggestion is they should play some music outside because the AC units make a weird ominous sound that disrupt the ambiance.

Ultra tasty, cozy lunch in Louisville! Arrive early, or you may have to wait - thankfully there was seating next door out of the cold and snow!

SO disappointed with our experience here. The ambiance was adorable, the restaurant seemed to have so much potential and our little group was really looking forward to it! Instead, the system they have in place made absolutely no sense, we left feeling like we’d just been part of some weird bait and switch scheme and with a general feeling of confusion and frustration. When we arrived the host let us know there was a 35-45 minute wait but we were welcome to sit in their waiting area and grab a drink. Great! We walk over to the awesome looking bar area through a garden patio, sit down and start browsing the menu. As we sit there, more people come in until the waiting area is totally filled. The “bartender” (who was very nice) starts taking orders one by one and you have to pay for your drink upfront. Before you get it… So THE ENTIRE ROOM orders drinks at essentially the same time and we all realize she is simply ringing them in so that a bartender inside the restaurant can make them and then she can walk through the little garden patio to fetch them and bring them back? Mind you it appears we are sitting in a totally functional full service bar… 40 minutes goes by and not one of us has a drink. That we’ve already paid for. To allegedly drink while we waited for our table. Our turn to be seated comes and still no drinks, we sit down and no one really acknowledges this or us, welcomes us to the restaurant, tells us to go fly a kite… nothing. Our drinks get dropped off and before we can speak the server runs away again. At this point we’d been there almost an hour and decided we’d had enough so we finished our drinks and left. Here’s the thing. We get that a brunch restaurant is going to be crazy busy on a Sunday morning. Did we expect a ten minute conversation about the weather and what fun things we did the night before? Heck no. Did we expect party tricks and undivided attention the second we walked in the door? Absolutely not. BUT whatever weird system they have in place for ordering drinks was an absolute crock that made it so you couldn’t change your mind and leave once you’d ordered. To not even acknowledge that sort of delay when you’re basically advertising this “drink while you wait” service was really irritating. There could be a reason they didn’t use the waiting area bar, who knows, but a little transparency goes a long way to change the entire experience.
