Lilly's Bistro was on my list for a long time. It's a Louisville classic, so when I moved here I immediately wanted to check it out. It took me a long time to make it to this spot, but we finally made it for a date night with friends, and I've got to say it just did not live up to my expectations. While it was alright, it simply didn't blow me away. Their menu changes seasonally, and between lunch and dinner, so it's difficult to look online and plan what you want before you arrive. I still did some pre-dinner research regardless, and I had some ideas of what our meal would be like. When we arrived for dinner we were actually given the lunch menu, and that was only discovered when we put in our cocktail orders. It wasn't a huge deal, because our server offered to still have the bartender make our original cocktail selections, but it threw a wrench into our meal orders, since we had been looking over the menu for some time before we figured out the mistake. Still, not a huge deal. We got out dinner menus and started to look them over just as our friends arrived. Of course I checked in on Yelp, and I was surprised by a Check-In Offer for a free order of Lilly's Frites, which are french fries with white truffle, parmesan, and herbs. I've got to say, these fries were the best part of the meal! If you visit Lilly's, you should definitely order these for your table! The server also brought out some bread, and I loved that there was salt and oil on the table! Unfortunately, the bread wasn't my favorite, there are many other restaurants whose bread I enjoy more. B and one of our friends ordered the burger. They both said it was alright. Our other friend ordered pork tacos, and he said they were awesome! I was jealous of his order, because he seemed to really enjoy it. If I ever visit Lilly's again, I'll see if they're offering a taco and I'll likely go with that. I opted for the steak. Unfortunately, I really did not enjoy it. It was cooked properly, it came out medium, the way I had ordered it; but the flavor, and the sauce, just wasn't my favorite. I did enjoy the potatoes that came with the dish though, and I ate most of those. I may return to Lilly's in the future in an attempt to try more of the menu, but I have to say, based on this visit I would recommend trying another spot for dinner, especially for the price.

Fabulous dinner. We enjoyed pumpkin soup, brussel sprouts, oysters, flounder with black beans and rice, and dessert. A great 45th anniversary dinner. Thank you!!

I made reservations for birthday dinner. Most restaurants I've made reservations have acknowledged the birthday and have gone a little above and beyond on making the dinner a little more entertaining and or welcoming. It took a bit to get a server to get our food. Then after getting our drink order it took even longer to get omg cocktail. They filled up fast after we arrived. I don't know if they were short handed but the same server was taking care of all four tables next to us. After about 20 minutes ooo finally did get a cocktail. Then after about 5 minutes the server came back and took the cocktail and said that was not mine. Left around the corner and then walked back around with the same cocktail and gave it to the guy sitting next table. Hope they enjoyed it. Since I sipped it. Lol then after another 10 minutes I finally received my cocktail. It was bitter but I drank it. Then after waiting for cocktails our salads came out. We ordered the exact same salads. My wife did not get any honey baked pecans on her salad. So she wanted them and the server was too busy to notice we needed a little help. Also when they dropped off the salads only my wife had silver ware. I had to wait for mine. While I understand that restaurants are busy during the evening. I would expect they manager to step up their game and follow up with servers if they are behind and need a little help. Now after we finished our salads we waited for our dinner. Which she had the duck and I had steak. Now those were delicious and just wow. The guy getting water for our cups was on point. He's probably the only person that was on point. Did have him fetch the server a couple of times for a drink and or asking where our food was. I posted several pictures to show our dinner. I think if you want different you should try this place out. While service was sub par. The food deserves to be enjoyed by everyone. Stop in and have the duck. It is Devine! The chef did a wonderful job! Also, if you don't have a compact car your going to have trouble parking. Since most parking spots close and or around the restaurant are made for compact cars. Good luck on the parking. Hopefully we will visit again soon and give it another shot and order something different off their menus. Stay awesome Me

Best Valentine's evening. The 3 course menu was spectacular and the presentation was amazing. Staff was very friendly and on point. They gave us space to eat and talk during our experience. They were quick to respond if we needed anything. Will be back a lot more.

This was quite possibly the best meal of my life. We celebrated Valentine's Day 2020 at Lilly's and everything was superb. Amazing balance in flavors for every course and the drinks. I wouldn't change a thing and we will definitely be back.

I came here for Valentine's Day for the first time and it was great! It was a fixed menu, but honestly I had trouble choosing between the few options! When I wasn't sure what to get, I asked our waiter and he gave me awesome suggestions! Their menu changes a lot, which I love. I had the lobster bisque, duck wontons, and pan-seared halibut and it was so delicious! For dessert, I wanted a boozy decaf coffee, which was not on the menu, but they we very accommodating and fixed me up something perfect! I would definitely come back again, it's a great spot for a special occasion.

Go for the food not the service. Started off with a cocktail and 2 apps. The pimento cheese wantons and the carnitas taco's were the highlight of the night. Both were amazing. Got the NY Strip for dinner, ordered medium rare, it was brought out well done, it was so over done I couldn't eat it. Our server made it our table a total of 4 times. Once to greet, once to take our app order, once to take our order, and then once to drop off the check. It was the worst service I have ever received in a restaurant.
