Got a pork bbq sandwich. Just a couple of basic white bread grilled and bbq pork on it. Not sure what the hype is about this place. This was the worst tasting bbq I've ever had. Not really sure I'd put it in the bbq category.

Go for the ambience, enjoy the food. When sitting at the counter, you'd expect Floyd the Barber to be seated across from you. Time hasn't touched this restaurant for decades (and, that's ALL for the good). The bbq sandwiches are small and served on white bread. BUT, the prices are commensurate ($3.50 for a bbq sandwich??) so I just order two. The sauce is legendary; a thinner tomato-based sauce with the perfect touch of heat. One of my favorite parts is the candy bar display behind the counter; I can't help myself and usually leave with two or three...or more. Is it gourmet? No, not really. Is it fun and worth your stop off I-24? Absolutely! Enjoy.

I'm personal from Paducah and I love this food! This family owned restaurant has such great food and many different type of food! Sandwiches, sandwich meat, and so much more but my favorite is they're Special sauce! They also have t-shirt and other things but if you ever visit Paducah or even are from here I recommend this place this much!

We stopped in at Starnes for lunch during our trip to Paducah. It was a small hometown restaurant with very friendly people working there and extremely affordable food . I’ve never seen prices that low in any BBQ restaurant in the Southeast (likely anywhere honestly). We ended up trying their Smoked Bologna, Smoked Beef, and Smoked Pork sandwiches and they were all incredible. The cole slaw and potato salad were both great as well. The sandwiches were so good in my opinion that sauce wasn’t needed. I was amazed that 4 sandwiches and two large sides were just over $15. If you’re in the area and looking for a great place to eat, check out Starnes BBQ!

Great Barbecue but a little on the dry side usually have it with coleslaw on top of the sandwich. I have heard the fried bologna is really good too!

The BBQ is too dry. It seems they over process the meat and lose the juices. It takes a lot of sauce to make up for the dry BBQ.

My husband's family has eaten here for years and we like to stop in whenever we are traveling. Lately, we have ordered Starnes homemade BBQ sauce and they ship it. Tim is a great guy and has kept this business going.

A great hole in the wall joint. Inside dining is still a no go, but they have tables outside. Be advised the sandwiches are just on regular sandwich bread so they're rather small, if you're a bigger guy like me get at least 2 for a light lunch. Got the pulled pork sandwich, sauce was a little on the light side but still had a kick to it. For an out of towner riding through, was a great choice to stop in.
