Was born in Paducah but left when I was 8 years old. My Dad knew Happy because he used to go there as a young man . He took me when I was 12 or 13 and it was great, I'm 64 now. So great in fact that I must get back there and reaquaint my taste bud with the food. Grew up in Michigan and now live in Florida but I'll come back to Paducah for 3 things not necessarrily in this order. Visit relatives go to Happy's and go to Starns BBQ ( i think that's the name). It over near Bob noble park. We used to live on Rudy Avenue in Rollintown. Ahh good memories from long ago!

This place has some really authentic barbecue/soul food! I got the brisket sandwich and it was an absolute monster of a sandwich. Tons of meat along with sauce. The sides are pretty great with a good amount of flavor. The fries were also seasoned really well with some sort of seasoning salt and that's always a nice surprise. The service was exceptional and our server really took the time to chat with me about visiting and what exactly I do for a living- it was a nice little chat!

Every where i travel i taste the food of small neighborhood establishments( where the best food usually is)and with Happys I can't complain one bit!The food was phenomenal!The prices were great on the wallet.The service was quick! Very friendly crowd and very welcoming.Ordered:rib tips: tender, Smoky, seasoned well and bbq sauce was delicious. I had enough tips to eat twice!Greens: not salty like many places. Seasoning was a great balance.Happy burger: OMG! THIS WAS HUGE. it was a HOMEMADE patty juicy and full of flavor. It was so big the meat was hanging off the bun. What more do i need to say?!Fries: crinkled cut with some popping seasoning. I loved them!Chilli: literally the best Chilli I've eaten in a while. I love the texture no gigantic clumps of meat , great seasoned and delicious.I will be back!

Having heard about the long history of Happy's, we decided to stop in to pick up lunch. I'm not going to lie, I was a little surprised by the interior of the building and almost turned around. But the delicious scent of food drew us in. We placed our to go order (a brisket sandwich with beans and a chili dog with onion rings) and sat at the counter to wait. The only person working was the owner, so we knew we'd be waiting a bit. After we'd been waiting about 5 or 10 minutes, the owner brought us a huge plate of rib tips, or as he said, "just a little something" for us to try. They were delicious! Smoky and tender, with a spicy barbecue sauce. I was licking my fingers for sure! When our food was ready, the kind owner quoted us a price that was about half what I expected and refused a tip. When we got back to the hotel and dug in, we found that everything was nicely packed with plenty of napkins! The chili dog was 2 hot dogs sliced and flattened then covered with excellent chili, all on a soft hamburger bun. Wow, was it good! I wish I'd ordered a whole bowl of that amazing chili, but with the generous portions I certainly didn't need it. My husband's brisket was tender and juicy, and the sides were also tasty. It was a great meal! We can't wait to go back for ribs!
