A neat little local place with great daily food specials and very friendly staff. It's not fancy, but you can tell it's loved by the locals, and they make you feel right at home there. The prices are very reasonable, too. We'll definitely make this a regular stop.

Lunch at Winkler's is always fun! It is a small, family-run restaurant that caters to farmers, stockyard workers and "just plain folks" who like Southern, homestyle cooking at very reasonable prices. There is a menu that mostly includes traditional diner favorites plus a daily special or two. The dining room is small, the atmosphere is cozy and very informal, and the service is friendly. It's like lunch from your grandma's kitchen and it's great!Parking: There is a large, graveled parking lot immediately adjacent to the restaurant.

My good buddy Grizz came down wanting to get a burger. So we headed down to Winkler's Stockyard Restaurant. Winkler's is a family-style restaurant offering daily plate lunch specials and off-the-grill favorites. They are located right beside the Bluegrass Stockyards in Richmond, KY. We both ordered the Double Bacon Cheeseburger, encouraged by the owner; I ordered fries while Grizz ordered the onion rings. The fries are thick-cut crinkle fries out of a bag and we agreed they could've used another few seconds to crisp them up and a bit of salt. The burger came with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickle on two-quarter pound patties that were juicy and cooked well with some decent seasoning. The American cheese made for a gooey, salty bite. The veggies were fresh, as was the soft bun. The bacon was chewy, but we agreed that two pieces would have been better. The burger was good-sized, with the right amount of condiments and veggies. The burger-to-bun ratio was pretty good. Grizz's onion rings came out of a bag, but they were fried perfectly, with crispy breading, and the onions are thick enough to stand up to the bite and not pull out of the breading. The breading has a slight sweetness as well. As a side note, Jax, Grizz's son, said his chicken strips were great. Winkler's is open for breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday. They offer fountain or bottled drinks and have homemade desserts every day. The staff and owner are amiable and helpful. It is a small place, so there could be a wait. The Fat Man says that Winkler's Stockyard Restaurant is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.

My Husband and I found this amazing friendly place on our way to Florida. We wanted home cooking food and we definitely found it. The food was out of this world good but above and beyond that the Owner and her family/staff were TOP Notch leaving us feeling warm, welcome & very full.?it's East off I-75 approx 7miles and well worth it. You will be pleasantly surprised when you open the door.
