I've gone to some of the larger, more advertised places and was not really impressed. Then I found Gumbo to Geaux...Now I have my "go to" Cajun place. This place is amazing. The atmosphere on walking in was authentic, not pretending to be historic. When you walk in the door, you know this restaurant is about treating you like a friend (new or old), and you're going to be fed a really delicious, filling meal.I chose the Catfish Lafitte and a couple Boudin and Pepper Jack egg rolls. I tell you what, it rocked! The catfish was cooked just right and the crawfish etoufee was absolutely fantastic! The egg rolls were served piping hot and so flavorful. Crispy and crunchy!Service was exceptional. The young lady at the counter was warm and friendly, very helpful as I looked over the menu and daily specials. She really seemed interested in making sure I found something just right.I live in the area, but I now have a restaurant I will recommend to friends in the area and a place where I will visit anytime I am in the area. Get yourself, your family and your friends to Gumbo To Geaux.

I ordered chicken and sausage gumbo, it was delicious but too hot! I hate that I can't order it again because good gumbo is hard to find.we also got chicken and dumplings ( Thurs) DELICIOUS!!! Finally someone knows how to make old fashioned ones without weird spices! YUM! Ordered Texas toast, got regular bread ( ends) not so great. The cornbread was terrible!! Flat, didn't rise and crumbled so bad you couldn't pick it up. Tasted " ok". All in all it was good. I'll be back, just hoping the gumbo isn't that hot all the time

We ordered a cup of seafood gumbo (crawfish and shrimp) and crawfish etoufee, with some boudin balls on the side. That was enough food for two adults. We ended the meal with a cheesecake with strawberry sauce. Our other family members got some crawfish poboy, red beans and rice, and catfish fry with fries that looked incredible! We would definitely recommend all of them.

Great food. They need to hire a food runner so the cashier can focus on the register and creating orders.

I guess the customer is always wrong. I ordered the Thursday special (beef tips) and the rice smelt like old socks. I tried to ask to exchange for a burger ($20 for beef tips btw) and the owner said no. ? Don't get the beef tips. Unless you like stinky rice.

We had a wrestling tournament down in Shreveport and after decided to give this place a try. The total experience was outstanding. The people working there are so friendly and helpful. I had 5 High School boy who had never tried Cajun food. The staff was awesome, letting them sample stuff and helping them order. The food was great. The boys loved the crab cakes. Had to order 2 more orders, they loved them so much. If you're in the area, give this place a shot!

Crawfish etouffe wasn't very good. I've never tasted etouffe like this, it was lacking something. Gumbo was ok. Fried oysters were good, if you're sensitive to salt you may want to choose something else. Cajun rice was ok, very spicy. Hush puppies were good.

I got the fried fish. I paid 20.00 for 3 piece fish and 3 shrimp. The fish was pretty good. This is my second time getting it and it was hot. Didn't take but 10 mins. But be aware....the atmosphere inside the restaurant is very southern. Not friendly at all.

$70 to go order. Food was upsetting. Your gumbo has to be one of the best to have it in your business name…. dirty rice was mushy. I had never seen anything like it before. Onion rings were gross. The fish is great sized but no flavor. Cheesecake was mid. Probably the best thing we had.

Not impressed at all. I was craving gumbo and this isn't even close to being true gumbo. It tasted of pure oil and the whole vehicle smelled of this concoction. I understand if you chose to leave out the "holy Trinity " due to most people having allergies but this isn't true gumbo at all. If your craving gumbo avoid this place for
