I was looking for a place to park my truck for the night when I saw this restaurant.Real deal an american kitchen, looks like one of those places you'd see on a documentary about America's best barbecue joints. On the outside is got that "best god damn barbecue you ever had in your life", look to it.After reading through a lot of these reviews, I've come to the conclusion that the majority of people in the world, don't know what good food taste like.I'm just gonna be direct. The food tastes below average at best. Bbq sauce tastes like Walmart brand sauce. The ribs are tender and cooked perfectly, but they lack seasonings and flavor. The same could be said of the flavorless brisket. The macaroni and cheese also had that fresh out of the box flavor. And the barbecue beans tasted like canned beans with Walmart bbq sauce added. The grilled piece of white bread that they gave me tasted okay. And to be honest, it was the only hot item on my plate.The young lady who took my order was friendly. She gets 5 stars. It's almost like they hired her to be the face of this sub par barbecue joint. I'm sure she didn't have nothing to do with the flavor of that food.fyi: If you walk up to this restaurant, there may be someone standing just outside that follows you around asking you to buy them something to eat.I mean for $28 bucks, (including a bottle of coke) it was very disappointing. This is my first time visiting Louisiana. I know the state can do barbecue better than this. Nothing on my plate with the exception of the grilled piece of bread was hot.

I'm a BBQ guy.its what I do when I'm not driving my trk.this place may look like a little shack but the food is amazing.i got the Friday special that included 2 meats,two sides.i went chicken leg quarter with 3 ribs.it came with two sides which I opted for Cole slaw,and Mac and cheese.everything was flavorful and delicious. Didn't even need to add salt,or pepper to the sides.worth every penny.

I ordered the 2 meat plate. My sides were green beans and Mac & cheese. I chose ribs and chicken leg quarter. I paid $22 but because I eat smaller meals this is going to be a 3 meal plate for me. The ribs are juicy and fell right off the bone. The chicken was very juicy. I am a truck driver so I walked over from the Petro. When I am back in the area I will definitely return.

I've been to the Petro in Hammond many times but never tried this place. Boy, do I regret that. Wanted to put extras in my truck fridge, so I ordered pulled pork, smoked sausage, mac n cheese, green beans, red beans and rice, shrimp poboy, and boudin balls. EVERYTHING is fantastic!!! Don't let the older looking building fool you, this place is a gem!

I have pasted this place for a while. My mistake!Stopped in tried a daily special smoked chicken plate with some on the side sliders to sample the bbq. Five stars! Locals agree as there was a line. Very good service. Menus was very large ( that scared me at first) but I sampled a decent spread and they were on point on all of it. I can see this as a take out place but they had a pleasant area outside to eat. Very happy I stopped by and look forward to more visits.
