I went in the second week open. The menu was limited, but what they are doing is very good. My hamburger steak was delightful and my wife really enjoyed her burger. I'll be back!

This review is also for the Booster Club bar that is a part of the Alumni Grill. This place used to be Spahr's restaurant and bar with a door connecting the 2 rooms. We were so glad someone reopened here because we enjoy being able to smoke with our drinks & order something from the restaurant. We have been here twice in the last 2 weeks. Both times, it was very quiet & virtually empty. Which we knew it would be due to the times we went. Also both times, we had the same waitress. Sandy is awesome! She remembered us from our first visit & even asked if we wanted the same appetizers. She has a great memory! The 1st time we went, I was having a stressful day to say the least. I was grateful the bar was empty. Sandy was a bright spot in a dreadful day. We had just left my grandmothers funeral & I wanted a drink. I don't usually drink much but I had a screenshot of a mixed drink I liked. Sandy was so pleasant as I handed her my phone for her to look it over. She said "No problem, that's almost like a Tom Collins. Coming right up!" My wife had a bloody mary. We weren't too hungry, so we ordered 2 apps. Let me just say, if you don't try the chips with crawfish queso & the wings, then you are missing out!! I wish I could remember the exact names on the menu of these 2 items but you can easily find them. That queso is the shizz!! Ok let's talk about those wings. I smoke chicken wings on a regular basis at home so I kinda consider myself a smoked wing expert. That also means I'm super picky about them. Here, they smoke the wings then do a quick flash fry to make them extra crispy, then a dash of Alumni seasoning on top. Usually I am not a fan of sprinkling seasoning on top of meat once it's cooked but here I will definitely make an exception. These wings..oh these wings lol put dat in ya mouth! The 2nd time we stopped in, we got the crawfish queso again. We had a friend with us for lunch. She got the shrimp pasta lunch that came with a nice sized salad. My wife & I both got the basic cheeseburger since there was no way we could eat the double patty burger. I got the brioche bun & she got the sourdough. That bun! What?? Why haven't I had burgers on a brioche bun more often!? Soft & delicious! The burger itself is a freshly made patty, not a frozen patty that doesn't give you that wonderful homemade flavor. Only change I'd make to the burger is even though I had cheese on it, it seemed most of it had melted off, probably onto the grill maybe. It comes with American but I asked for chedder. So I needed more cheese for sure. Also, while the pickles were yummy, I had asked for extra pickles & these were SO THIN, that even with extra pickles, I barely tasted them. 3 things that are an absolute must on my burgers (aside from lettuce & raw onions I like) is mayo, cheddar cheese & lots of pickles. I would simply adjust my order accordingly next time to make sure it has what I want. This wouldn't keep me from going back. Booster Club also features local bands on a regular basis at night & has a daily lunch special. You can call & reserve a table if there is somewhere specific you would like to sit when the band's are playing. We really enjoy eating here & will most definitely go back. Hopefully we get Sandy as our waitress again.

Staff was friendly and welcoming. The lard of fries was decent. The burger was good, my wife got the steak dinner special it was advertised as prime ribeye and it came out as prime rib, gray and pinkish colored. Small menu is a bit of concern. Wish they had a few more options. Restaurant atmosphere needs some tv's. Still looks like the old place with a new paint job. Still room for improvement, will be back in a few months to see if they have improved. I hope that they can make it in this economy, with so many other places with similar options it will really need to step up there game to sway people over. Fair prices
