We where in Lafayette for one night and I am so glad we got breakfast from Rickey Menche's!Donuts where amazing... pretty sure they where the best I've ever had. Their boston cream with cream cheese filling was next level.The service there was top notch. The lady behind the counter was incredibly welcoming and helpful. Really felt the southern hospitalty thereAlso dont sleep on their Kolaches! I tried my first Boudan here and it was amazing. perfect breakfast bite
I have not been on site to Meches. But, I have ordered King Cakes two years in a row. Their cakes are exceptional. Bavarian creme has been my choice. I shared a piece with a friend who makes gourmet cookies that she sells. Her response, " this is the best cake I have ever eaten". So I cannot say enough how good those cakes are. Not so good for the hips. The only downside is the shipping. It costs more to ship than the cake. But they are excellent and survive shipping well. Can't...read full review

Meches Doughnuts (especially the Guilbeau road location) is BY FAR the best doughnut you can get for the best price that I've ever had, and it isn't even close. I truly pity the rest of the world that isn't Lafayette, Louisiana for the types of doughnut establishments they are forced to choose from. Imagine if you only had a bottom of the barrel chain like Dunkin' or one of those pretentious and expensive designer doughnut spots to get your doughnuts from.
