The food was good, any variance from the menu is an upcharge. That was the theme of meals tonight. The upcharges were not set in stone and were dealt out based on what the waitstaff felt. The hibachi meal that came with soup that was not provided. The clear soup which was $4 on the menu got a $2 upcharge over the $3 soup. This place is a skip and left you feeling ripped off and dirty. Thanks

My stay in Lake Charles is almost over but I had to go to this place like 4 times while I was here. Very fresh food. Good service. And the sashimi mmmmmmmm. I might go back one more time! Highly recommend!

This place was so amazing, I decided to bring my film crew out to eat here the very next day! Megan was our server and she was spectacular! Great vibes, and even greater food / presentation. Thanks Umami for being my favorite LC sushi spot!

I love the food here. Very presentable and very delicious!! And the service was very attentive. Food is a bit on the expensive side. And I do find the restaurant to be a bit lacking on cleanliness. I would hope they are well with keeping their food safe in the kitchen and just arent as focused on the other things. But overall good experience!

I stopped in here with a friend for an early supper on a Sunday night. We were seated right away. The waitress was super informed, patient and helpful. We ordered a Wagyu Bite for an appetizer. It was tiny, cold and overly doused with sauce. I wouldn't order it again. He also ordered the Seafood Salad which I tasted. Not really my cup of tea since I find it to be on the slimy side, but taste was decent. He ate every bite so it must be good if you like that sort of thing. I wasn't very hungry so for my Main I ordered 2 Appetizers - the Pan-Fried Gyoza and the Seafood Puffs. The Gyoza was expertly fried with the most amazing brown crust on it. It was delicious and I would definitely order it again probaby every time I go. lol The Seafood Puffs I've had in the past on buffets have always been a disappointment, but the waitress recommended them so I gave them a try and I'm so glad I did. I enjoyed every bite, but be warned that they are heavy on the cream cheese and light on protein. Howevery, if I was in the mood, I would still order them again. There are also several more things I'd like to try on the menu the next time I go back.

To begin with the food is superior to all other Sushi places in L.C. I give them that. As to the negatives, i must begin with the fact that the owners are from NYC and we all know how kind and generous and warm New Yorkers are. I can understand why anyone would leave NYC to come to L.C of all places. What is that all about? Now, The Menu is I believe is confusing and on purpose because you have no idea how many pieces of sushi you get in an order and the price. I know the Tuna is Blue Fin and amazing. The price is also amazing and you only get one to the order. They have no website and no printable menu on their FB page that we can print out. If we live out of town, it would be nice to pick out what we would like before driving there. If they had a menu on FB that we could enlarge to see the small letters, it would help.

Worst food I’ve had in a restaurant. It’s like poor fast food. And presentation is just as bad. Never ever going back not even for free. The waitress was very nice.

Absolutely the freshest sashimi and most unique assortment of fish you’ll find. This place gives you an elevated dining experience in little ol lake Charles. The smoked salmon sashimi is one of my favorites as is the Cho-toro.

Authentic sushi chefs, fresh fish, earthy rich tea, big servings but at an affordable price, and exceptional service: this place is a haven, a shining light in an overwhelming sea of American fast food outlets. A tasty, healthy, comforting dinner — worth almost dying crossing the dual-carriageway on foot in a town of zero sidewalks. Five stars from a travelling Brit in search of good grub.
