Well sad update for everyone that really liked this place. City Diner is permanently closed. A new Indian cuisine restaurant is opening up in it's place.

The good was A1, the service was so down to earth, I want to go back again

Had the shrimp and grits. Plate was really good. Just the right amount of cajun flavor, not too much because it's still a breakfast dish, not too little. Our waitress was an angel. Especially when my credit card company kept declining my card because I'm out of town. She very discreetly gave me the receipt and was very patient as I called my CC company. Great place to eat, and a nice old school diner feel.

Pancake size of the universe but very tasty. Hash browns topped with eggs then creole sauce with crawfish and andouille sausage, Wow, amazing!!! Decor a little aged but adds to the ambiance, staff were sooooo friendly.

Highly Favored

This is terrible. I should have walked out when I smelled the stench. But I gave I the benefit of the doubt since the building is older and maybe this was just a hidden gem since so many previous reviews were good here.

the pancakes are huge

Who in the hell would want a pancake the size of a tire. Ridiculous to not have regular size pancakes.

The food is great and reasonably priced. Charles the server was also great. He made sure we received our beverages on time and also gave us some tips on things to do while visiting New Orleans. Great customer service

I usually always 5 star this place being that it is our go to breakfast place, but this time, our waitress was terrible. Im no where near prejudice but the 2 white tables seated next to us were checked on regularly and taken care of, I had to get up twice to get my own ketchup and sugar for coffee because she didn't come ask if we needed anything. My sausage patty was cold, came back with another cold one. This was a first. We love this place but we were racially profiled this time and that normally doesn't happen here. We will come back tho.

Great, friendly, attentive customer service. We ordered the Hash Brown sausage and crawfish. The flavors were there but the passion was not.The food was heated up and definitely not cooked fresh. The biscuit taste freezer burnt and stale. The hash browns were not sizzling fresh and there was no green onions or adequate cheese on the food. I would recommend making new menus and teaching the line chefs to have the food presented piping hot, versus the warm food which was boring. Keep in mind we couldnt smell the food cooking probably because it is prepped and precooked. Pancakes and eggs were fresh, and that's it.

So I'm convinced that the people who have eaten and left 3 or more stars had to either have been on drugs or they had different cooks at the time. My food was soo bad that I couldn't even bite into it. The smell was horrific my country fried steak was burnt and cooked terribly. The Mac n cheese was horrible. The host was nice but very unknowledgeable about her job and didn't know how to do a refund. Save yourself time and energy and don't go to this place. Foods s***

We were extremely disappointed today. We had to wait an hour for our food and when it arrived it was cold. My son's pancake looked as if it were dropped on the dirty floor. The service was terrible apart from the nice gentleman who I'm assuming was the host. The floor and tables were dirty and the bathroom didn't even have toilet paper which was much needed after the food made me violently ill. We will not return here. Ever.

Awful place!!!! 8 tables open, wait staff talking amongst themselves and no one seated the 2 groups of 2 people waiting for over 25 minutes. We walked out. Don't bother!

This place has great food, but could use a better umm service. Folks need to be trained and the training needs to be managed. Place empty -- we should have had lots of attention and no balls dropped. There younger guy I guess he was a busser was most attentive. The biscuit was warmish. Even if you don't want it slathered in butter it shouldn't be cold. You might wrap them up and put them in a hot box. I had the hash browns creation of andouille sausage and shrimp. The portion was huge. Plenty of shrimp and andouille.
