I had been coming here for years. I normally either picked up some goodies or ordered a birthday cake. Today I went to order a cake for my son's graduation about 7 weeks away. I was told that they are down to one decorator and because of Easter she may NOT want to do it. Easter is this Sunday. I don't need my son's cake until MAY. I was told to come back tomorrow and TALK to a manager??? This is so bizarre and sadly I won't be back. Not sure what changed but they've lost my business. The cake I needed was a round cake with blue icing and white clouds. Not complicated!! I'm sad because I really enjoyed coming here and was always treated so nicely.

Maurice,s Ponchatoula King Cake is my favorite King Cake. My family will quickly devour this cake. One thing I noticed is that when they bake the bread to a dark golden brown, the bread is too dry. Thus. It's difficult to cut through and eat. This also goes for their King Cake. The bread is way too dry when it's baked to a dark golden brown stage. The light brown stage lends itself to a moister bread.

I had a gift card for a medium Kingcake; but it wasn't Kingcake season anymore. The manager allowed me to chose its that would equal the price if the kingcake. I chose from a beautiful assortment of single size pastries from the glass case. Everyone one of them was delicious. Our group of 7 cut them & tried a piece of more than one for dessert. Everyone was smiling & happy with Maurice's pastries for dessert. I had a palm sized: terramisu, strawberry shortcake, chocolate, lime pie, & one more that I can not recall right now. All were excellent. The staff was kind & helped me patiently.Parking: Parking is available in an open lot on the south side of the store.

I finally had a king cake shipped out after visiting in January. As a fairly experienced baker and pastry chef, I was always very hesitant that a mail delivery product could compete with fresh baked king cakes I make each year. A friend has often ordered from another famous bakery and I was always disappointed in the quality.The first thing that caught my attention with this one is the mouth-watering smell that immediately hit me m as soon as the box opened. Despite traveling from Louisiana to rural California, I had it in my kitchen less than 14 hrs after it left the bakery. The sweet, fluffy dough is a somewhere between best of a sweet, brioche meets croissant with the slightest hint of possibly nutmeg and cardamom. We chose the cream cheese filling which was delicious. We really want to try apple and lemon next! My personal belief is that frosting and sugar are only to hide poorly made baked goods when working with pastry dough. This item 100% stands on its own. The dough is definitely one of my favorites. That being said, the frosting fans in my house felt it was the perfect sweetness to highlight the flavors in the dough. I will be ordering from here again for sure. Thanks for sending Carnival to the middle of nowhere! I will remember you in the future!

This review is only for the apple cinnamon king cake and does not reflect on any other pastry. To best describe it: a brioche bread apple pie with icing atop. The only cinnamon is in the apples, not in the bread dough. Icing is thin and has a tendency to get watery within a day. I've tried many king cakes, and I know this place has great reviews, but in my opinion this particular king cake I would not recommend.Parking: easy parking

Maurices is our place for doberge. Petite 4s chocolate or lemon always incredible. I tell people about them if they're gonna visit nola. Napoleon in the quarter had doberge but wasn't as good as maurices. Still good but different good.

I today purchased a medium Galette de Roi (French King Cake), medium sized, for a dinner party for six. The pastry was dry, with hardly any filling and no one enjoyed it. It was either old or was prepared with little care and no cream of almond filing. After supporting and enjoying this business for many years, I will no longer return there.
