A quaint cafe that sits in the a quiet neighborhood in the Marigny area. Came here for a late breakfast and was able to walk, approximately 45 min. from the French Quarter. There was plenty of seating outside and because it was a nice day I chose to take in the nice breeze that was blowing. The menu covered both breakfast, Desayuno side of the menu, and Almuerzo, lunch/dinner. I chose the Laveau Biscuit which was listed as a biscuit with chorizo, egg and gravy. I also chose a glass of sangria to wash it down. I was quite surprised when the dish arrived as the biscuit was sitting in a bowl of gravy with chunks of chorizo and greens on top. I wish I had an extra biscuit to soak up the remainder of that sage gravy ! The dish was super good but the chorizo could have used some additional spices to add more flavor. The sangria was on point and a great choice for a nice spring day. Service was great and the outside neighborhood seating made for a pleasant experience. Will have to steal the Laveau dish idea and make my own creation.

Went here on a Tuesday morning in April and was floored by the quality of the food and drink and service. We sat outside as it was an unusually nice day. Our server was so warm and enthusiastic. Just an above and beyond kind of guy. I had a strawbery limonata agua fresca that blew my mind and the huevos rancheros that was just totally perfect. My wife had the churiso tacos and said they were amazing. I'm a vegetarian so i will take her word for that, but there were so many options for all types of diets. Wish we had more time to hit this place again. Will definitely go back when I visit NOLA again.

Great neighborhood bistro. We had a wonderful service and the food was delicious. Nice creative twists on some classics. Hemingway would LOVE that daiquiri!

We go to Nola every year for vacation. We usually try new places for dinner, but we always make it to Almas for brunch at least once and usually twice. We love it! Chilaquiles pictured

I have eaten here about seven times bc I live nearby. The food is usually alright but very expensive and young revolving waitstaff makes the experience iffy. I like the papusas the most and the steak breakfast w eggs. The deep south chicken sandwich was a dissapointment bc it wasnt spicy at all and the fries were soo soggy like the oil wasnt hot enough. The play on biscuit and gravy is kinda good but always way too greasy and glandular. Housemade hot sauce costs extra. I could understand charging for additional but if you are buying a pricey meal that implies its spicy but then isnt then I think nice hot sauce should be free or at least cheaper than $2. The beverages are quite good but man are they expensive too! $16 for a Caipirinha... Lime, sugar and sugarcane spirit! Cocktails are all about $12-$18 Wow too high for a casual breakfast spot, this isnt uptown. $8 agua frescas w crushed ice taking up 75% of the glass capacity, for real. The espresso is very good and probably the most sensibly priced beverage. The glam bartender and barista that work Sundays are cool tho and are the best of the FOH. The server guy who is *boomingly loud* and hyper is sooo distracting and disruptive to the mood nearly everytime. The decor is beautiful and music very good. Seating is tight. I'm 50/50 on this place. I want to see it succeed like the three previous restaurants did not but I also hate leaving a place feeling a little ripped off like I often do here.

I loved everything about my experience. I stumbled upon this gem after parking and aiming to try another spot. I knew I wanted to try the homemade tortillas and they did not disappoint. The Alma breakfast made them stand out. The plantains were cooked to perfection and the queso was a beautiful accompaniment. My server was helpful and personable. The decor and overall energy was bright and thoughtful. I felt transported and I'm ready to go back!

Another gem of a place. Well deserved JBF nomination Chef Melissa! An absolutely incredible spiritual culinary journey. The depth of flavor, the freshness of everything left me wanting more and more. Julian was amazing as well.

Excellent, authentic Honduran food and great atmosphere . We will be keeping it on our list of places to visit so that we can explore the rest of the menu! From what we had it is no wonder why Alma Cafe has been nominated for a James Beard Award.

Loved it. Delightful ambience, friendly competent service, and... Oh my the food. A great combination of yummy comfort ingredients-- eggs, avocados, crema, delicious house-made flour tortillas-- and interesting things like Honduran crack sauce, a cheesy oil dressing, and gorgeous roast pork. Alma is owned by its chef and it shows. They have nice outdoor tables, and the inside looked delightful as well. Lastly, it's quite reasonably priced, especially given the huge portions; lunch for two was $52 before the tip. And on top of everything else, it's in the Bywater, a fun funky neighborhood.

What a treat!! We absolutely LOVED Alma, the food, the service, the flavors, ALL fantastic! We came for brunch on a Saturday at 11 am, prepared to wait for a table, but were seated immediately. The coffee was robust. The Bloody Maria was overflowing with accessories, celery, pickled veggies, and a hunk of chicharrone. Sadly, I forgot to take a picture of that! The baliadas was so big that we took half of it home. I had the breakfast tacos and managed to eat it all, but it was filling!! The homemade tortillas were superb, and I can't wait to come back and try more off the menu!!
