I read an issue of Southern Living Magazine which listed best barbecue in each of the Southern states. The magazine rated Central City Barbecue in New Orleans as the second best barbecue restaurant in Louisiana. We decided to give it a try. Upon entering the restaurant, we noticed a television screen advertising a Beef Rib Special offered on Weekends for $29. I knew I had to order that. In the Bay Area, beef ribs normally sell for $40-55. When we placed our order to share, I was pleasantly surprised when we were asked what two sides we wanted with the rib. "We get choice of sides?" Never back home. We ended up ordering so much food, adding a three meat platter and a two meat platter, that we took enough leftovers home to provide an additional meal for each of us. The sides were all quite good, although the mac and cheese could have used a touch of salt. All the meats were mouth watering. Fall off the bone pork spareribs, burnt ends, beef brisket, pork belly, and of course the aforementioned beef rib which was huge and perfectly done. As Schwarzengger would say, "WE'll be back!"

This is what $20.25 (before tax and tip) gets you at Central City BBQ. 1/4 pound of brisket and literally 4 forkfuls of slaw. No pickles or onions. Just this. Brisket was under-seasoned as well. Rip Off

A solid Meh.The brisket experienced too much heat. The sides were sad. : (
Sliced brisket was a massive portion. Very tasty with tender meat and a Smokey charred crust. Paired great with the sweet bbq sauce. I also loved the Mac and cheese side. I think the side was unlimited because the server asked if I wanted a refill. I would have if I wasn’t so full!

Excellent BBQ and all the sides plus a bar and entertainment venue at fair prices for the great quality.

Nice food. A little bit hight in prices, but very good. You must use sauce to get the best from the meat/sandwiches. Fries are awesome.

This is some of the worst BBQ I’ve had… how does this place get the hype it does?! I live in NOLA and eaten all over the city and have yet to find good BBQ, it’s very disappointing. I was hoping this place would be legit but I barely touched the food. I will not be back :(Edit- I was asked for more details, so here you go: Brisket was dry and lacked flavor, we didnt like the bbq sauce options at all, the mac and cheese was very bland- it tasted cheap. The wings had very little meat on them and were overpriced.Coming from Kansas City- maybe I just know what good BBQ is and people that come here & say great things… they don’t..? ? People have said good things about other bbq spots in NOLA and I was not impressed with them either.
Brisket and pulled pork was amazing. And you have to get the brussel sprouts (so yummy)

My wife and I had brisket, pork ribs, smoked sausage, brussel sprouts and mac n cheese. Everything was excellent except for the mac n cheese. It tasted like it sat at day. We found this place last year around this time and were truly amazed! Everything we had was outstanding! We often talked about how good the food was since then. So fast forward to today (03-24-24), to to say we were taken back a little is an understatement! Even though we were a little disappointed, we're definitely gonna it another shot! We'll still recommend the restaurant to family and friends!

Brisket was super dry and obviously over cooked, the pork balls were cold in the middle. Staff were unemphatic, they remade the plate but with an attitude. It sucks when you finally get to treat yourself to a good meal and its way below expectations. Brussels sprouts were good.

Just stopped in from Texas and asked around for the best BBQ joint in the city and got this place recommended by many. 100% this place is so damn good I finished my plate and went back to give the cooks props and tip them directly. I love BBQ and this place crushed anything I’ve ever had in my Texas. Everything was on point my god I will be thinking of this food in my dreams until I can come back again!!!

Had the rib plate with mac and cheese. The best part of the plate was the pickle umami and the strawberry lemon. The ribs were tender but could've more flavor. The Mac & cheese was decent.
