I stopped here on the way home from New Orleans, only 2 miles off I-10, so not really out of the way. We have a long drive, so I selected a steamed char sui bun, Pate Chaud, meat pie, Crawfish pie, coconut macaroons, mochi, and a pineapple bar. Omg, the Crawfish pie! It had so much filling, Crawfish, bamboo shoots, scallions, and seasonings I'm not sure of, but it was very spicy and delicious! I'm trying to find a recipe for it in my Vietnamese cooking group, because Google turned up nothing. The Pate Chaud was delicious too, but not as much filling as I wanted. The coconut macaroons were amazing, and surprisingly made without sweetened condensed milk, but you would never know that except for the ingredient list. The pineapple bar was not too sweet, as it looked, perfect for me. The mochi were delicious, with the all familiar chew. Have two more pies to sample, but I have no doubt they will be delicious too!

We stopped here not once but twice when we were visiting New Orleans! Every item we got from this bakery was absolutely spectacular. Here is everything we tried, and there are some items I am probably forgetting: pate chaud, baked bao, steamed bao, almond croissant, yuca pie, banh bao chi, and che ba mau. My favorite items were the pate chaud and the banh bao chi.The pate chaud was nice and flakey while the inside was rich in flavor. It was similar to that of like a meaty gravy, and I loved it. The banh bao chi were probably one of best little treats I have had in a while, and I would happily order these to my house if that's possible. They were squishy and yummy. This was an all around great establishment and everyone working here was super friendly and inviting. Also, super reasonable prices!

Fresh and light, not the usual heavy, oily sauces. The grilled tofu vermicelli bowl was tasty and the right texture. The server was helpful explaining the different dishes. Thera nice bakery with Banh Mee sandwiches next door.

The egg drop soup and Korean short ribs are THE BEST I have ever had. The location is a bit out of the way but the food is unreal.

Update to the review below: It's good to see that right after my review below regarding the inaccurate hours of operation, only the bakery (and not both the restaurant and bakery now) shows up now on Google under the search "dong phuong" with the correct business hours until 5 pm for only the bakery section. Sadly, however, now there is no mention at all for the adjacent restaurant or its hours of operation until 3 pm everyday except Tuesday. And, on the restaurant/bakery's official Facebook page, it incorrectly shows the restaurant as being open everyday except Tuesday until 4 pm (not 3 pm!) with the bakery being open until 5 pm. One would think listing correct business hours would be a very simple and straightforward matter. Unfortunately, though, for this business is obviously isn't. Original post: Just letting people know that the RESTAURANT portion closes at 3 pm daily NOT 5 pm as is listed on the Google page for the "restaurant." The adjacent "bakery" closes at 5 pm daily. It's sad that there is only only listing of the hours for BOTH sections of the business and it's clearly inaccurate and naturally causes confusion. Certainly, it needs to be changed by the owners and/or on Google to reduce such confusion.

The pho was absolutely delicious! As a Vietnamese American who is very picky about what is and isn't good pho, I can say that this tastes like true authentic home cooking. The broth is so full of flavor and they don't skimp on the toppings either. As for the banh mi, it seems like every local already knows that this bakery makes the best bread in town. I watched customer after customer walk out with giant bags full of plain bread, which should tell you exactly how good it is. It's a super light and airy French-style loaf, which makes it the perfect vessel for banh mi fillings. I love that the prices were reasonable and they were generous with the meat. This was 100% worth the 20 minute taxi ride to get here. I only wish we had come earlier, because even at 9AM, most of the baked goods had already sold out.
