Do not eat here it's the best sushi in New Orleans and I don't want to share. But if you do eat here get the beef tataki and the tempura and leave your kids at home.

My favorite sushi in the city. Everything is always fresh and flavorful. I also get the Metairie roll and mango roll and they’re delicious every time. The drive thru window sets this place above everyone else. Makes getting takeout sushi so easy.

I ordered via UberEats and it came very expeditiously. I had 2 “special” requests: low sodium soy sauce and extra wasabi. I received neither. This has happened before and it’s disappointing because the sushi is tasty. It’ll be awhile before I order again since other sushi restaurants don’t get these details wrong. (Noodle salad; crunchy roll/soy paper; rocknroll/soy paper)

Ah, Mikimoto Japanese Restaurant, where culinary dreams come true, all thanks to my dear friend who introduced me to this gem! Let me regale you with my adventure through their tantalizing treasures...TAKO YAKI - Picture this: deep-fried octopus balls, sizzling away in their crispy cocoon, a discovery guided by my friend's culinary wisdom. They were like tiny treasure chests of flavor, with a delightful umami-infused BBQ sauce that sent my taste buds on a wild rollercoaster. And let's talk texture! These balls were fluffy and moist, a surprise even greater than finding a hidden gem in a pirate's chest. Octopus, pickled ginger, and green onion joined the party inside, creating a mouthwatering masterpiece.BEEF ASPARAGUS MAKI - The beef in this dish wasn't just thin; it was cut to perfection, a recommendation from my friend that I'll forever cherish. It embraced the asparagus like a loving hug from a meaty bear, and the asparagus itself? Juicy and meaty, as though it were auditioning for a leading role in the culinary world. The teriyaki sauce draped over them was caramelized perfection, a flavor sensation that danced on my palate. I've never been so mesmerized by an appetizer, and I once tried to teach a spring roll to tango.SALMON TERIYAKI - This dish started as a solo act, but I turned it into a flavor ensemble with the guidance of my friend. The salmon, while well-cooked, needed a bit more seasoning, so I played matchmaker with some white rice and the teriyaki glaze. A surprising duo, but they made sweet music together. The side of steamed broccoli and a lone cantaloupe slice seemed like an odd couple, but that cantaloupe was a fresh, fruity surprise. The side salad's dressing was a tad bland, but the veggies were refreshingly crisp. And don't get me started on the miso soup - it was like a cozy hug in a bowl, with those mysterious tofu tidbits making it all the more delightful. A solid 8/10, with a pinch of salt for perfection.MANGO MANIA ROLL - This roll was like the rockstar of the evening, a recommendation that my friend insisted upon. Fresh salmon and avocado were a match made in sushi heaven, but then they brought out the big guns - slices of mango! Sweet and juicy, they added a tropical twist that was pure genius. But wait, there's more! I brought my secret weapon - GALIC CRUNCH! That chili garlic crunch transformed the dish into a flavor explosion that would make fireworks jealous.I placed my order for all the dishes simultaneously, and within moments, our table was transformed into a culinary wonderland, courtesy of my friend's culinary expertise. It felt akin to a scene from an anime, where the protagonist finds themselves in a buffet of epic proportions, with each delectable dish appearing one after the other in rapid succession. But the real MVP of the night? The service! Our server was patient, like a Zen master guiding us through the menu, with my friend's warm introduction making the experience all the more special. No rush, just genuine kindness and helpfulness. Dining here allowed my reunion with an old friend to be magical. Time stood still, and all that mattered was savoring the moment. In conclusion, Mikimoto Japanese Restaurant is a culinary adventure worth embarking upon, and I owe this delightful discovery to my friend's recommendation. It's a place where flavors collide in a harmonious cacophony of deliciousness, and where the service is as warm as a summer breeze. Highly recommended - go for the food, stay for the anime-worthy dining experience, and thank your friend for introducing you to this culinary haven!

We did date night here and it was honestly just ok for us. We both ordered water, got the who dat poppers, the deluxe roll and the uptown roll. The who dat poppers weren't good nor were they prepared the same as in the pictures from reviews. They didn't have much flavor other than the (definitely jarred or bagged) chili sauce they were smothered in. That's really all you tasted. In pictures there is no sauce and it looks like some melted cheese, we did t have any cheese on ours. We just weren't a fan. The uptown roll was good, a lot of sauce which my husband liked. I prefer raw, but for a cooked roll it was good. The deluxe roll was good but it seemed to lack something. Maybe a little more eel sauce or lemon zest. Idk, it was just a little bland. The app and 2 rolls totaled $50. Which isn't bad for sushi in the city, that's pretty normal pricing. Our waitress was nice, not super informative but she was very nice. Service was fast, they had a security guard, off street parking and the place seemed to be clean. The vibe is very laid back and chill, a very comfortable environment.

If I could give the service zero stars I would. The service was not the best. Upon walking in, instead of being greeted with a hello we were straight up asked if we knew if this was a japanese sushi restaurant which obviously we did (for context we’re African American). We sat next to the entrance and noticed that NO other customers were greeted like this, many of whom who were either white or asian. The rest of the experience with this same waitress was us getting ignored most of the time to the point where another waitress had to step in and take over. Though the service was horrendous, overall the food was ok.

It was super tasty and fast. The roles were very filling could have probably asked to be light on the rice. Our client recommended the place and order for us all so not sure what we ordered but I liked the sashimi, and the one with crab ontop. All was great.

I love most things about this place. The food is good and they have great service. I’ve been going to Mikimoto for 7+ years now. Over the course of the last couple years, their prices have gone up, which is fine. However, they also decreased portion sizes without disclosing that. So the last time I ordered rolls that I always used to get, they were more expensive AND now only come with 6 pieces when they used to come with 8. It wasn’t enough food and that was annoying to discover after getting home.

The sushi is really good, I loved everything there. The staff are also really nice, I’d recommend calling before going to see of its busy. Might have to wait inside to find seats cause the place has around 10-11 tables (varying number of seats)Kid-friendliness: Has kid’s chairParking: Dined in three times, couldn’t find parking on just one occasion when the place was really busy.

The sushi tasted like it had a chemical on them. I placed a pick up order during work. Had a coworker of mine try it and he wound up spitting it out. Idk what that taste was but I would definitely avoid this place. Hopefully I won't get sick.

We are staying at a hotel and all of the restaurants in the hotel were closed so we ordered from here and it was AMAZING!! This restaurant might be a staple every time I come to New Orleans! The food was hot when it got here, it tasted delicious, and was exactly what we ordered.
