To read the locals review this restaurant, you quickly realize this is most likely the only sushi restaurant in town. I had dinner here while in town for business. The staff was great but the sushi was not fresh and did not have the color or flavor that I expected. The salmon had a pale color like it had been frozen not the bright orange color you see when it's fresh. Therefore it lacked the flavor it usually has. I had to drown it in a lot of soy and wasabi to give it flavor. I usually like to enjoy the flavor of the fish. It just wasn't there. The eel also lacked flavor and didn't appear to be fresh. Then you realize it is Pineville so you should probably lower your expectations. I would have bet the sushi was not fresh before I entered the restaurant, but figured hey I will give it a shot. I will look elsewhere closer to the coast for fresh sushi. Landlocked restaurants just aren't able to get fresh product or the inventory management here is suffering.

When in Alexandria, I highly suggest taking the time to indulge yourself at Mikado Sushi and Steakhouse. You will not be disappointed. This is that one in a million hole in the wall places we usually can only hope to find...and worth every moment. My server Erica was sharp, attentive, and a wonderful young lady, doesn't get any better than her. The Seaweed Salad was spot on, but the extra surprise was the finely sliced cucumber bed beneath the salad. Great extra touch. The Sushi was amazing. But the true winner was the Sashimi....Salmon, Tuna, White Tuna, White Fish, Yellowtail, and Abacore...all large thick slices and lots of it. The Sushi Chef really did a nice job. This is definitely a must go to restaurant for those who love Japanese cuisine. Hot Sake and Sapporo Beer were just icing on the cake. If you have the opportunity I suggest giving this place a try, you won't regret your decision. Enjoy !!!!

i got FOOD POISONING from this place. listen, i eat sushi, like a LOT, the service was really good, ive never had an issue with a mean server or anything. they have nice staff, quick orders, and an overall good vibe from this place. BUT, last night i ordered takeout, i do this quite a lot sometimes, one container i opened had a really strong fish oder to it, yet, with it being raw fish i ignored it and ate it. woke up in the middle of the night with genuinely the worst cramps imaginable, and eventually threw up four times. (id rather shake a hornets nest than experience that again). anyways, please be wary eating here, i genuinely have never had a problem with the food before until now. so i dont really understand what the issue was.. do NOT recommend...

I chose to eat in a Japanese restaurant, I was expecting a better quality of food, the shrimp noddles were like being cooked by an amateur, the shrimps were bad quality and not worthy of a Japanese restaurant. The salmon sushi wasn’t good! So disappointed!
