Lunch was half a fried shrimp poboy with some gumbo. The sandwich was good as was the gumbo. Friendly staff. Interesting local place worth grabbing lunch at if you are in the area.

Buddy B's Restaurant has been a popular go-to destination for breakfast and lunch since 1998, when Gary and Fege Boe opened what had been a gas station and convenience store in the 1950s into their pride and joy. Located at 2788 Highway 44 in Garyville, Louisiana, along the Mississippi River Road, the business was purchased in 2021 by Buddy Boe and chef Natasha Clement to continue the family legacy. Looking for good Cajun cooking, andouille sausage, gumbo and fried shrimp? Take it from an old-time Yankee, once you are introduced to Cajun cooking, you're hooked. Buddy B's is open from 7 to 1 Monday through Friday. For breakfast, I recommend the breakfast platter with two scrambled eggs, smoked sausage link, hash browns, toast and jam. And a breakfast sandwich with egg, sausage patty and cheese. For lunch, I had a bowl of chicken and andouille gumbo with potato salad and bread and a platter of fried jumbo shrimp with coleslaw and a baked potato loaded with butter, cheese, bacon and sour cream. My wife opted for a fried chicken tender dinner with coleslaw and fries. By the way, I finally figured out why so many restaurants close early. Everybody goes fishing in the afternoon.

Huge burger homemade at a reasonable price. Poboy is very large on a good fresh French bread and piled high with ham and cheese. Well worth the money if you want a burger or poboy

This is a lunch place. So you visited the San Francisco plantation and it is lunch time. Where to eat? You are driving west on river road, and about a quarter mile, you see an old gas station, with a small cloth sign Buddy B's. Pickup trucks parked everywhere. Guys and gals I refinery worker jumpsuits milling around. You have arrived! Inside is a nice clean space. No fears! The people you see are the engineers and managers of the local refineries out for lunch. Head on in. The menu is on the wall. If you are really hungry, go for the giant burger. It is one full pound of meat! The plate is smaller than the patty! My local colleagues had the spaghetti and meatballs. I had the kajun Klub sandwich with slaw and kajun fries. For less that $10 I was stuffed. The staff is delightful and friendly. Remember, you are in southern Louisiana, you will be properly addressed as Sweets, Love, Darling, Honey, etc. enjoy it! Not be missed! This ain't no McDonald's!
