Wow! All the locals point to this place when asked where to get authentic cuisine for deep south. All recommendations are very well deserved. Be prepared for a wait, But accept its part of process. Wait at a picnic table on the lawn overlooking lake. It's beautiful location.

The food was delicious! I had the gumbo, cornbread, boudin balls and beignets. The gumbo is spicy, if you don't mind a little heat I highly recommend it. The only issue we had, we drove over an hour from Ruston from a basketball tournament to try out the restaurant. There was a 2 hour wait (we expected it in advance,) we never received a call. After almost 2 hours my husband went in to get an update and they told him they called, but we didn't answer so they took us off the list. I didn't have any missed calls. It was closing time so we ordered takeout so it wouldn't be a wasted trip. I really enjoyed the food, but I'm sure it would have been better dining in. We will be back though!

Rarely do I give anything five stars, because nothing is perfect! But this night was worth 5 stars! The food was amazing! And way too much food on the plate! ? The waitress gave some excellent suggestions and there's a beautiful view while dining. Will definitely be back again.

It says a lot about a place when there is a 20+ minute wait at 2:45 in the afternoon on a Thursday. Great service and great food!

Drink: Bayou TeaApp: Alligator BitesEntree: Crawfish EtouffeeDessert: Bundt Cake (Not pictured)Fantastic Southern Creole cooking! I was passing through Shreveport on a longer trip to DC from Texas and this was literally my first stop, even before my hotel.I was specifically looking for Louisiana culture cuisine and this place nails it. Even cooler nod to being one of the oldest black owner restaurants in the US! Mixed, diverse crowd of diners too.Shout-out to Mika and Kayla, the bartenders recommending and checking on me throughout, friendly and welcoming all the while despite being quite busy.
