If it's your 1st time, the signage is accurate! Wait at the front to be seated and eat in...someone will come to grab you. If you want take-out or you called it in, skip on to the counter past the lobby to take care of business. The menu is straightforward, service is swift, and desserts are packaged ready-to-go! Jumbo shrimp is really jumbo at this joint and they don't play around with that fish sandwich! If you're on a road trip, they're conveniently located right off of the freeway. They have clean bathrooms too, but at least grab some dessert if you stop in. The vibe is familiar, even though it was my first time, so act like family when you roll in there and mind your manners because the staff is very kind. Thanks for a great dining experience and the hefty portion

Sam’s Southern Eatery has the best homemade southern food I have had. The portions are large and the quality is outstanding! The collard greens and fried okra are delicious. They have healthy options as well you can have your fish, shrimp and chicken grilled or blackened! Love! Love! Love!Vegetarian options: They have plenty of vegetables but they are probably cooked with bacon!Dietary restrictions: They fix your food how you ask them to!Kid-friendliness: Family restaurantWheelchair accessibility: Yes

Never a good sign to see nobody inside. Also didn't like the fact it was attached to a trucker casino. Would have gone somewhere else for sure if I had time, BUT to my surprise the food was actually good and they were quick. Their fried fish was good size and their batter has flavor. Really good. Their shrimp was big but not a fan of the batter. Not bad. Their turnip greens were great but their red beans were not. It was watery and lacked flavor. Still surprised it was as good as it was for being cheap and quick. The worker was sweet.

This review only applies to the North Market St location. The staff seems nice and food is good, but not good enough to overpay, especially since there's at least a half dozen other choices with in a 2minute drive from this joint. They need to align their prices with the other Eateries around town. I stopped ordering from there for that reason.

Friendly staff - portion size was more than enough and prices were fair. Nothing fancy but if you are looking for good food - would recommend.

The shrimp is good but the fish is too seasoned and fried hard and nasty. The woman at the counter is very unprofessional and tries to rush you to order your food very annoying. They're very stingy with the sauce so they can charge you for more. The people that own these restaurants just can't cook southern food correctly.

The food was like it came from a box and was heated up. I had the 2 piece fried fish and 6 shrimp with fries and red beans and rice. Food was warm but not hot like it had just came out of the grease and the red beans and rice had a wang like something was ruined so I didn't eat it.My friend had 2 piece baked fish and shrimp. She said half of one piece of her fish tasted like it was bad and the tartar sauce she said was horrible. The place itself was very grungy looking and women's bathroom was very nasty looking.
