This place has the best food ever. I have been coming to this place with my family since i was a child and their restaurant has remained a family favorite. The employees are always so sweet and helpful. I placed a to go order, was there in 15 minutes and they had everything ready for me, everything looked great, smelled great and nothing was missing. Will always come back. Definitely worth stopping in.

Local-owned business is home to some of the best Chinese food you can have here in New Orleans. What's even more unbelievable is how cheap the food is despite the great quality and large portion sizes. The setting is welcoming, service is friendly, and the music was serene. I had the yatkai mein soup and mandarin chicken and am still reeling from how delicious the food was. Definitely recommend visiting to anyone near and far who's a fan of excellent, homemade meals.

Soup is so good! Dumplings good! General Tao is delicious ? Feels like homemade would.

I'm sure I would never come here again the food was mediocre and that is probably exaggerating the sauce for the Mandarin Chicken tasted burned general Cho's chicken had no taste and I'm yet to get through the worst part of the whole meal. I was rudely interrupted many times by a child whose mother either work there, or knew someone that work there. This may be a parental problem too but it shouldn't be a problem for someone dining out. The mother came to get the child from my table not once but twice and then had to drag her out the third time to the back of the restaurant where we heard her screaming and hollering. What a wonderful atmosphere for a Chinese restaurant. Do they give - stars cuz if they had them she would get them. I happily paid them and left them forever. Can't wait to hear the response from the restaurant. I even cooled down a couple of days before writing this review to be fair. Does that tell you anything?

One thing about New Orleans is that the quality of American Chinese rivals New York,, Boston and Chicago. Because my go to places were closed we decided to try China Gate. While there was tons of food, it had below average flavor. Some of my chicken seemed old. Satisfied my itch but I wouldn't go back.

I picked up 3 items there on Monday evening and ingredients are generally very good, but preparation and seasoning could be better. Several people recommended this place in another neighborhood forum and their prices looked excellent when I looked at the menu photos shared online, but when I arrived I found that prices were probably 25% to 30% higher for most items with some increases even greater. When I look at those menu photos now, they were uploaded at least 2 years ago and some 7 years ago. Lesson learned

The food was fresh and so delicious. Everything tasted like something someone actually made and not just fried frozen food. The portions and prices were great and the staff was courteous and helpful.

I loved the Shrimp Fried Rice that I ordered for takeout. The staff was really nice. One of the best Chinese restaurants on the Westbank !!

China Gate is really good. I've ordered takeout numerous times and have liked everything I tried. My husband and I usually share one of their soups, the crab rangoon and an entree. We usually still have leftovers the next day. Sometimes when I eat Chinese, I'm sensitive to the MSG content but they don't seem to overdo it at China Gate. During Covid, they're only doing picking orders. You just call when you are outside and they'll bring your food out to your car. A+ service!

It's always been good here. Except this time. The guy on the phone told me 15 to 20 minutes so I headed straight to the restaurant and was there within 5 minutes of the call. At 35 minutes I told the young guy to cancel the order since the phones were busy. He said the food was ready. At 40 minutes I left. It was a pretty basic order. I'll just wait until they're open again. Normally it's really good food, service, & wait time.
