The most divey type bar in the college town of Thibodaux. People of all ages hang out here, so it has a very interesting vibe. All types of people seem to coexist here. This is the cheapest place to grab a beer or a simple liquor/mixer cocktail. There's a pool table and jukebox and an old wooden bar. Cash only, so make sure to grab some at your ATM or you'll be forced to pay a surcharge to use their's. One of there best events is Christmas Caroling about a week before Christmas. They only do it one day, so be sure to ask around during November to see when it will be. A three man band plays and they even hand out song sheets. Big problem with many of the bars in Thibodaux is that you can still smoke inside. At times you can see a hazy cloud hanging over the customers. Maybe I'm only complaining because I'm used the smoking ban in Nola. If you're feeling crazy, their signature shot/cocktail(?) is the Mind Eraser. It's some concoction served in a small plastic cup with a straw. But you drink the thing as fast as you can through the straw, almost like you're taking a shot. This is a right of passage at this bar. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this bar it has the cheapest drinks in town a great jukebox video poker pool tables and the best bartenders in the world. You will always be remembered and meet new friends each and every time you walk in the door it's a wonderful place to socialize with good people!

This is one of my favorite bars in the whole Houma-Thibodaux area. I love a good dive and this place is as good as it gets. It's got a great jukebox, an interesting mix of people, cheap drinks and great owners. Unfortunately in my old age of 30, I've started to have problems handling the smoke in this place. On a weekend when it gets crowded the bar can get a visible low-hanging cloud of cigarette smoke and you'll have to wash your hair and your clothes multiple times to get the smell out. It's a lot better on weeknights. But if you're intrepid and your lungs can handle it, Rene's is the best bar in Thibodaux to hang out, shoot pool, throw some money away on the jukebox and catch up with old friends and new.
Young and old drinkers in Thibodaux all have one thing in common, they stop at Rene's at one point during a night out. It has the cheapest beer in town (cash only), but don't expect a wide variety in your drinks. The crowd is full of barely legal types and the barely alive regulars that circle the bar at all hours of the day. Rene's has a funky local vibe to it. The main problem is that you probably lose 5-years of your life each time you come here due to all of the smoke you inhale. You should wash your clothes and shower immediately upon leaving here; which could be a good pick-up line.
