Came in here for my first ramen experience and it was amazing. A small joint with a few tables and a counter. The food was out of the world. The broth was spicy and the meat was tender. Will defiantly come back

After reading all those good reviews after visiting, I began to doubt my experience…First of all, the soft boiled egg on the menu is not soft boiled, it was 100% hard boiled. You can see it from the picture I took. Also, both the ramen we ordered were wayyyy too salty. I had to drink 2 cups of water to pair with the ramen. The meat is very good actually, very tender and flavorful.

Decent ramen experience with good appetizers.Recently stopped by for a quick ramen meal. This new Allston location seemed like a less frequented outpost compared to their other locations, so the store was almost empty during my visit. For the appetizers, I got the Takoyaki Volcano and the Chicken karaage. The takoyaki dish bursted with flavors – the spicy mayo and scallions provided a tangy kick, while the fried toppings added a pleasing crunch. On the other hand, karaage was slightly underwhelming. While maintaining a juicy interior, it felt short with its batter not achieving a good level of crispiness. The Shio Ramen, a staple in any ramen joint, was also somewhat lackluster. The toppings were satisfactory, but the broth lacked the depth and richness that I was hoping for. While Hokkaido Santouka’s ramen might not top my list, their appetizers, particularly the Takoyaki Volcano, make it a spot worth visiting.

It's been a while since I last had ramen from Santouka! During my trip back to Boston a few weeks ago, I had a chance to go to a new location of this ramen spot. To start the chicken karaage was on point, crispy and tender, plenty to share. I loved the ramen, it was chewy and the broth was very flavorful, a little on the salty side. The rice bowl with salmon and roe was also tasty, not something I usually get but not opposed to it. Would definitely come back. There wasn't a huge line when we went during dinner. The staff was friendly and this location had a good amount of tables. Ample parking and also super close via MBTA.

Servers are polite. Food is good. I always get the same ramen. Their vegetarian one, which has a creamy soy-based broth. The 3 times I’ve been there, the ramen has not quite been consistent. Not bad tasting, just not consistent in flavor or consistency. Either noodles a bit to al dente for my taste, or too sticky, and/or not enough broth and they won’t give you more broth. The only way you can get more broth is if you pay for a second bowl of ramen, which is ridiculous. It’s still a good spot though. But not my favorite Hokkaido location. I believe the best one is the one in Back Bay.
