Science the Itch

Our dishes tasted good, but seemed like they’d sat out for a while before being brought to our table. The blue bar lighting was off-putting, and the music was pounding club beats the whole time — the result was an atmosphere more like a prom night limo than an Italian restaurant. They ran out of bread, but didn’t tell us until bringing our entrees, which was also disappointing. A highlight was the wine selection, and generous pours.

Food is okay… music a bit too loud on the second floor. Good service.

Overall we were quite disappointed with our experience eating here. Firstly we are "foodies" and eat out regularly and use the Boston Restaurant week to try new places. The poor experience started when we sat down and our server gave menus, but noticeably, no menu for Restaurant week. It seemed to us that they were purposefully not providing that with the hope that dinners would order off the standard menu instead. Not a good sign of a well run restaurant. We finally ordered and appetizer came relatively quickly. But the issues started with the main course. We ended up waiting 1 1/2 hours for our main. This was clearly not acceptable and makes no sense. Any modern restaurant has an automated order system where the server places the order electronically and the kitchen should manage the orders in sequence.Unfortunately it was not isolated to us. The couple right next to us had issues getting their food and ended up getting half their meal to go so they didn't miss their ferry. The couple near us also waited as long as did we. But the couple behind us really had issues. The server got their wine wrong and even worse, their main course arrived before the appetizers and when we left, they were still waiting on their appetizers. Each table raised these issues to the restaurant manager, but other than apologizing repeatedly to each table, he did little to actually resolve the problems with the kitchen and the pace of the service. To add insult to injury, as we were trying to pay, the billing system in the restaurant apparently had issues and we could not get a proper bill printed. We were so frustrated by this time that we simply approved a hand written bill and cut our losses. The food was actually quite good, but we and every table around us had a very frustrating experience. I think there must be an issue with Depasquale Restaurant Group and how they are managing their 5-6 restaurants.I would not go back to Assaggio.

I had a reservation for 8 pm but didn’t get seated until 8:30. The drinks took forever and ofc they spilled it on our table. The appetizers took over 30 minutes, and the entrees over an hour. Despite arriving on time, we ended up staying until 10:45 pm. To make matters worse, they offered espresso martinis in beer glasses due to a shortage of proper glassware. While I understand busy nights happen, this experience fell short of expectations, and the food wasn’t up to par either. I hope the staff acknowledges these issues and improves their service. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place to others

The food here was great! Went with a group of 5 and everyone agreed they had the best espresso martinis we have ever had. The calamari was cooked perfectly with great taste. I had the carbonara and my boyfriend had the chicken parm and the flavor was very good. The restaurant was a little dark for my liking but everything else was perfect.

Honestly, we picked this place on a whim, but making a reservation was so easy and the staff were so friendly! I could go on about how amazing the food was and how well we were taken care of! Hundred percent worth a

First time visit. Our family loved the vibe and the service team. Our waiter was terrific. We never felt rushed, even on a Friday night. The food was really good. One family member gave a “so-so” to the gnocchi's. Chicken Parm was awesome. We would definitely go back.

We have eaten at this venue a few times. The food was fine though not outstanding, the service as well. We were not offered more bread and I had to ask for a dish to put my clam shells in.

We ordered the Seafood Stew, my wife and I shared it, and it was delicious and so ample we brought home a swordfish steak.

Food is not worth the price—especially with so many great restaurants in the area. We were trying something new—instead of our usual favorite places—and this place just didn't compare. Ravioli tasted like it was frozen and not fully warmed through. Wait service was lacking — young waiters seemed indifferent or uninterested in being there, although the bus boy worked hard, and he was the person we tipped well. The bread and basil oil dip were good, but otherwise, just not worth it!

We had a great seat and servers - loved the music and for a full restaurant , we could hear well and have great conversation. Food was delicious - excellent pizza . Great spot for a family- everyone can find something to satisfy!

I'm disappointed with my recent visit to Assaggio's. I've been here quite a few times with family and friends and never had a bad experience, but this time was different. They sat us in the basement near where the employees go in & out and the downstairs bathrooms were disgusting. You walked out to a room filled with trash too. We ordered the Zucchini Flowers which I've had numerous times (there's usually 3) and it's 20 dollars which is still expensive but whatever...they gave us 2 little stuffed zucchini flowers for 20 dollars, one less than normal and a huge rip off. My dad also asked for light cheese on his veal parm and extra sauce and they didn't listen to that- it was covered in cheese and barely any sauce. Also took over an hour and 15 mins to get our food. Not a good experience.

The atmosphere upstairs was amazing. Chicken parmigiana was great. Drink and desert was also great! Caesar salad and bread were both just ok. Have patience, super busy. Will definitely be back.

I've always loved Assagios and still do. I tried the upstairs dining room for the first time and it had the music playing way too loud and it wasn't even Christmas music in mid December. Also, needed more Christmas decorations. Thank You!

Nice, relaxed atmosphere. We ate at the bar before a Celtics game. Delicious octopus appetizer and an equally delicious zucchini pasta. Very pleasant bartender and great service. A minor complaint is that the menu is hard to read given the low light levels. White paper and bigger font will do the trick!
