So back in December 2023, I stopped a couple of weeks ago for a treat. From their rotating menu, I bought two donuts, a coffee glazed oreo which was very good and a more traditional Boston cream. I had the glazed oreo with coffee at work that day, I did not try their coffee yet...it was good, a little messy to eat but very nice coffee/choc. combo flavor. Saved the Boston cream for home/next day and I felt the texture/dough was a little heavy but the cream and the chocolate were nice. They are expensive, about $4 a donut, but the shop is bright and cheerful and the two staffers were friendly when I asked if they were playing the sound track to Pitch Perfect/film & they were -- it was just a fun, positive way to start out the day.

Expensive doughnuts that are good, but I dont think are worth the hype. I definitely think its worth going in to try and donut or two. For donuts theres a few directions you can go - you can be simple, you can be tasty, you can be creative, or you can be all three. Blackbird donuts are creative, But they sacrifice taste.

I love the variety of unusual donuts. Very delicious. The staff was very friendly. I wish I had taken pictures before we ate them!

This misses the mark completely. If you're used to traditional cake or raised donuts from the likes of Kane's or Donut King or your little local shop, this won't do it for you. They are pricey as well, ~$4 or more for a donut. There's too much chew on the dough that's used for the filled donuts (Boston Cream etc). Braided twist was a bit lackluster but slightly better than the Boston Cream. Had a latte which was also underwhelming. Better coffee can be found easily nearby, donut availability is a little thin in the area though. Inside is very small with no seating and not many places outside to sit and eat either.

My sister picked up a couple doughnuts to share. Our group of four foodies all enjoyed them. They have a doughnut of the day that is half priced (and not well advertised!) so definitely worth considering that option! We tried the lemon coconut and the winter citrus. I don't normally like coconut but I really enjoyed the lemon doughnut!

As a donut conneiseur who's tried my fair share of pastries, this shop lives up to the hype! At $42/dozen it should! However the price point is actually reflected in the taste and that is something I have found lacking in some hyped up places (Kanes which was so disappointing). I can't even say I had a favorite for what we tried: cannoli, tiramisu, eggnog, jelly filled and Boston cream. If you twisted my arm I may say eggnog! The Boston cream was definitely the best of it's kind I've ever had. If you're looking for the best donut shop in Boston this is it. This particular location is a bit small and offers no indoor seating just fyi.

Kudos to Blackbird on their marketing. We were recently in town and the Beacon Hill location was very close to where we were staying. The donuts on the website were beautiful. Unfortunately, we bought a box to share and they were absolutely terrible. Way too chewy, the glazes were awful, and each one more disappointing than the last. Save your money and go somewhere else. No doubt it will be better than here.

I used to defend Blackbird as good even if they weren’t my favorite donut in town, but no more. I had a maple braid a few days ago, and it was even less maple flavored than Dunks (let alone other places with a comparable price point). Add on an unremarkable texture with a bit too much grease and it’s 1 star for the price for me. I give them a second star for trying some innovative flavors, but I’m not eager to go back.

At least think about the packaging for an expensive donut - removing a star for that. Otherwise donuts are good here. Glad I declined the $2 tip request.

The peach jam & strawberry doughnuts were the best. Standard plain glazed in both brioche and old fashioned were both very good, as was the espresso pulled on a la marzocco.

Item(s) ordered: 6 donuts--toffee, S'mores, chocolate sprinkle, everything bagel, blackbird, raspberry-coconutThe review: Came back to my favorite spot, Blackbird Doughnuts. We bought 6 for my coworker's going-away brunch (hence the various toothpicks in the photo with "good luck" in different languages). These donuts are fresh and delicious with interesting flavors that cater to vegans as well. The servers are kind, the place is a cute counter-serve. Love Blackbird!
