Don't go to Brendan's if your not a hippy, don't have a smelly nasty unkept beard, or any hopes for anyone showing you the slight grain of respect especially minority males. I went hear with my fiance years back. I was born and raised in jamaice plain was around waaayyy before Brendan's. Jamaica plain became gentrified. Starting filling up with hippys, transgender individuals, brew makers and avocado eaters. Since before Nemos opened I watched it open as a kid last year had to watch it goo... Anyways. There's generally only one bartender there. This extremely rude blonde woman that when me and my fiance walked looked at us like we got no business being in there. It's a extremely small bar yet took us 20 min and me screaming like YO over the music, she then gave us some watered down drinks. I watched her look at me and pour our drinks half way full which she only did to my fiance and myself. We then proceeded down to the gentleman at the end of the bar. And who your looking out. But ya call me brodie

note: cash only! interior is dark with wooden booths and stools, making for a cozy but lively pub, but one where you can still have conversations with some friends. drinks were pretty good, with a wide selection of beer and cider, and the bartender was quick and efficient.

What a farce this place is. When you get inside you’ll hear some of the worst pop songs from the last decade with a bartender who has no idea who or what Brendan Behan even stands for.The establishment is a total disgrace to Irish culture and it starts with the bartenders running this bar. It’s an absolute shame because the bar has a great aesthetic. But if you’re coming to Boston and want to support and experience a real Irish business, stay away from here. It’s a total money grab mooching off a great Irish writers name.

A good pub to go with a friend or two! The drinks are cash only and the bartenders were kind. Would come again!

Went to the bar last night hoping to catch the vibe before attending a session in the next coming days while visiting Boston. They would not accept Canadian driver’s license or military ID as acceptable pieces of ID, wrongly citing that they weren’t recognized ID. They also said ‘it would have been fine if you were here earlier in the day’ with the same ID. We arrived at 10pm, 3 hrs before close, since we travelled 7hours from Ontario just to go to that bar.I didn’t appreciate being lied to, nor the subjective way they determined ID. Massachusetts law also confirms that establishments actually make their own determination of what they CAN accept as ID, but it does not allow them to say what they CAN’T accept based on the list of valid identification. To explain, an establishment can accept a gun license, birth certificate, etc as acceptable ID if it is legally issued by any foreign government if the establishment is familiar with the form of ID. Though the 3 foreign IDs that are universally accepted in Massachusetts are: Drivers License, Passport, and Military ID.For obvious reasons, many people leave their passports secure while travelling. The fact that they wouldn’t take 2 pieces of valid ID for 1 person gave the impression that this establishment is using practices to discriminate on patronage. Something that, from previous experience, has not been their form of practice. Don’t know what changed here, but the vibes are officially off.

It was super empty and it’s cash only just so you know. The atm has a very high service charge so bring cash before hand. The owner will check you it super hard it’s super weird.
