Ambar Marchena

Ordered their Monday Special pastas through toaster for take out. The “penne a la viga” was described as chicken breast stuffed with broccoli, spinach, feta, fresh tomatoes, served with marinara penne or rice. However, as you can see below i got a white sauce and ham as meat. I don’t really like ham but the pasta wasn’t terrible. It was VERY salty though. The Mac and Cheese was simply alright, did not stand out to me. In a previous catering corporate order however i had their lasagna and it was pretty good. Just didn’t like these two dishes.

The food here made me sick. Seems like hygiene is a persistent issue here. City should intervene.

Prior to the great pandemic of 2020, Viga on Pearl street in Boston used to by my go-to place for lunch. Great sandwiches, awesome Chicken Parm calzones and decent salads. Service was always quick and prices were decent.Sadly, after the pandemic the place went down the tubes in a major way. They now have minimal staff working there, which can cause long wait times. More times than not, the staff is busy making large corporate takeout orders, ignoring customers waiting in lines. Yes, I said lines. There are 4 lines in this place. One line for salads, one for sandwiches, one for hot dishes and final line is for payment. The lines aren't really labeled so people tend to stand in the wrong line for some time before realizing that they need to move. This arrangement is ridiculous. Once someone orders their food, there isn't a place for them to wait so the front of the line(s) gets very messy.I still go to Viga but very seldom. I only go when I have a craving for a some form of a chicken parm, be it a sandwich or calzone, which I have to call and order an hour earlier.Viga, you used to be great, but not any more.

Fridays at lunch I like to treat myself to ordering out . I Love meatball subs. Tried a few places in the area and found Vigas to be top drawer ! Meatballs are tender and delicious! They also have the soft braided loaf Generous with provolone / meatballs and sauce ! My 'go-to!' For a meatball sub. I'm sure all their fare is delectable in all areas as well. I've just had their meatball subs (my fav ) and they never disappoint ! Go there for yummy food ! See you on Friday !

Another one of the places I had for lunch while in Boston. My co-workers all said they got the best sandwiches and of course, I had to give them a try. We walked from our office and ordered our food to go since the place is too small for all of us to sit down and eat. We placed our orders and can actually see our food orders while they are preparing them. Many people had either the chicken parmesan or the meatball sandwiches, so I thought I can't go wrong with either one. I eventually needed up go with the chicken. The sandwich tasted okay. Not the best chicken parmesan I ever had, but it's decent enough for under ten bucks. It still sounded a little pricy for me, but we are in the middle of downtown Boston so I guess it's reasonable in the area. I didn't take a picture of the sandwich because I thought its nothing special. I may check out other sandwiches places when I come back to Boston.

Thanks for my catering orders the past two days (ordered different items); everything was good, the presentation nice (everyone was impressed and stealing the pepper idea for the crudités), both delivery people personable and professional. We’ve used them frequently for lunch. Of note, several other places could not guarantee inventory due to the pandemic and supply.

I wish as required by food service law employees to change gloves after using the registry keypad. If they don't do at front imagine what happens in the back.Better don't go back there.

Viga is open for breakfast. The beauty of this is if you want a sandwich for breakfast they will take care of you. The home fries are out of this world! You get wonderful cubes of potatoes that are cooked to perfection. Crispy on the outside and tender inside. This morning I tried the Treviso. Which is a chicken wrap that has an absolutely amazing pesto. An that's coming from a pesto snob. The staff are really friendly and the prices are really reasonable, especially for downtown Boston.

I like this place for a quick bite, most of the time. After a variety of sandwiches and pizza, I consider this to be a go-to for lunches. $6 and change for a slice of pizza and a drink? You betcha. The chicken Parmesan and meatball Parmesan are fantastic. Service is usually very fast. There's only been two days where things were crawling, but they also appeared to be short handed. The service is also polite. Some good people working there. It's small. You might want to take it to go at peak times. Especially, if the weather is nice. Clean and bright.
