Came here for dinner with pretty high expectations given some of the reviews...and to be honest...it was just OK. I say that it was just OK because it's too expensive for what you actually get. First of all, the space is nice but not that nice. If you take a close look, things are worn. Second, I ordered a salmon roll, a nigiri set and hot sake. The sushi was tasty but it was small. The sake was nice and warm and was a good price at $12 for 10 oz. Overall, I enjoyed my meal but it is overpriced. The service was okay but I felt that I was overlooked because I sat at the sushi bar. If you want a solid place and don't mind overpaying, this is your spot.

Went for dinner with a reservation, been wanting to try. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Poured drinks for us, took plates away as appropriate. This review is more for me to remember why I do not want to go back though. The issue here is the food that resulted in me not coming back here unless I really was craving Japanese and this was the only option.Sake - Don't remember what we got, but it was tasty and would order it again.Shishito Peppers - It was average. The dish seem like it was either stir fried in a wok or covered in a vegetable oil. The accompanying spicy sauce was tasty. I would not get this again.Wagyu skewer - This was a disappointment. The meat had a mushy texture as though it was either in the freezer for too long or was at the end of its shelf life.Spider Tempura roll - This was average. The tempura was soggy rather than crunchy. Would try something else.Uni Sashimi - I'm not a uni guy so I can't tell what's fresh or not fresh. It did not smell fishy. It had a very slight sea smell.Nigiri Chef Selection - Fiance order this, so can't say quality for sure. She said some of the fish seemed like it was reaching the end of its shelf life, particularly the shrimp. Salmon was best.Tamago Nigiri - This was average. Egg on the sweeter side than savory. Would be open to ordering this again.Pistachio dessert - This was my favorite dish out of everything we at. Not too sweet, hits that sugar need. Would order again.

writing from my hotel bed in a food coma right now. need to digest. i had shishito peppers, sashimi, house salad, miso soup - all were made gluten free. i was a little nervous reading the reviews but honestly i had no issue with gluten free availability. they were able to make some specialty roles gluten free but i stuck to the traditional maki and nigiri. we also got some tuna on fire and oh my it was like melt in your mouth salty and good. can't forget the bananas fosters. was also to be made gluten free. waiter was extremely attentive and helpful!

Service was great here and the ambiance was nice. I really liked the steamed pork bun. I was really looking forward to going here, but it didn't impress me as much as I thought it would based on reviews. Plus, I went here for a special occasion. Maybe I just built it up too much in my mind. I'll stop there and say, the food was still very good. Just feel like it should have been better given the vibe and pricing.

High cost but basic quality. I would not try again.

Always been very happy with the food here at Douzo, first time sitting at the bar versus the dining room and was equally happy with the experience. Good staff, comfortable environment and the food was amazing. Did a few different items than some of my traditional rolls and was very happy with it all. Plus enjoyed a few drinks for an overall relaxing evening before heading over to show in the theater district. They the toro on fire!

Food is excellent. The vibe is probably between average and good. It was date night for me, and we were overall very happy. Popular place, so typically a decent crowd. But the food is solid.

This is one of our top favorite restaurants in the Boston area. Since we discovered it a couple of years ago we have been dining here wirth family and/or friends at least 10 times, and we'll keep coming. Quality and service is consistently superb. The manager is very kind and personable, and our favorite waiter (Adam) is just great. Some highlight items we highly recommend: XO Toro tuna, A5 wagyu, softshell crab tempura, yellowtail and king salmon sashimi, and the unique Japanese uni/quail egg 'shots'.

Price for the tasting boat was bit overpriced compared to other top tier sushi restaurants. Mochi desert was way off quality from the Douzo's vibe. Other than that, it was great. The Dassai 23 sake was cilled well and served in a right temperature, Uni and Toro were fresh and melting (sad they don't have o-toro at the moment), their shrimp tempura was one of the best ones I have ever had around the world including Japan. Plus, surprise desserts from our server, Adan was fantastic and it litterly gave us big impact. Unforgettable night. Thanks a lot.

Food was wow. I'm going to be very forward about my likes/dislikes to keep it short! Steamed pork bun (5/10): I know this doesn't sound like I'm starting the review, but this had the texture of pulled pork instead of traditional charshu, which I found unsatisfying and not worth the money. Starry night (10/10): so pretty and so delicious. Perfect balance of booze, sweets, and ice. Soft shell crab tempura (10/10): so soft! And the ponzu sauce paired well. Unagi nigiri, ika nigiri (9/10): fresh sushi, nothing out of the ordinary. Salmon sashimi (10/10): some THICK slices of sashimi (this is a compliment!). was really good, fat striations were lovely and the salmon melted in my mouth. Torch roll (8/10): the yuzu sauce balanced the spicy mayo and yellowtail so well. Tiger roll (10/10): I wish I could repeat the first bite I had of this. The squid was so tender and soft, the salmon roe gave the perfect saltiness to the bite. Would definitely order this again. Chocolate cake (10/10 based off my boyfriend's account) Coppa pistachio (9/10): kind of wish it was more gelato, but the pistachio definitely shone through. Chef's nigiri special (10/10): honestly, worth the price, I got fatty tuna included in mine. Was still a little hungry though. Service was good, the owner/manager of the restaurant kind of hovered the entire night which was kind of weird, but our personal waitress was really sweet. The place has dark lighting but lively chatter that allows for a great date night for a serious date or a good time with friends or loved ones. The seating isn't cramped, but I would say tables are pretty close together to make use of their space. Would love to come here again and try their uni shots!

Excellent food but horrible service. Waiter was lovely but over 40 minutes between appetizers and entrees... this was my first time bringing my family (eat here when I am in town for work). Was a bummer as I talked the place up quite a bit. Drinks come out poorly timed relative to food.

The sushi was alright. Service was great. The taste of the food lacked flavor. While the fish was very fresh, it just didn't taste like anything. I literally got scared that I had covid again and lost my sense of taste. The sommelier dropped by to give me a rose before coming back to ask if I'd like a drink. I declined immediately and he insisted on selling me a drink. I declined again. This was a bit off putting. If someone declines alcohol, they shouldn't be convinced to have any, especially by a staff member. You don't know their situation.

Loved the food, the service was a little slow, maybe because it was busy for Valentine’s day. Only few metered parking spots in front or you have to park in the garage, that they validate and you would end up paying $5 (weekday). The place was nicely decorated and again, the food was amazing. Would highly recommend the crispy shrimp.
