Rarely answer their phone. Impossible to call an order in. What good is the food if you can’t get it?

I always check out places and rate them if they are friendly/safe to Black and POC peoples I have been coming here since my early 20s. So for about 20 years they have been serving the community with excellent Cuban food. The only downside is when you call in a order for pick up it may take a while. But the food and customer service is always the best.

You can definitely see the history of this place. The owner died a few years ago but the family still owns and cares for this restaurant. I got the speciality cuban sandwich with everything on it and it was so great. Perfect mayo/mustard ratio, the pork was moist, and the bread was fresh. Have to stop by if you love cuban food and you're in Jamaica Plain.

Good Cuban good with fast and friendly service. Yucas was good with special carrot sauce. The Masitas de puerco (fried pork chunks) we over cooked and meat was not lean— skip.

I drove all the way to this resturant to pick up my grubhub and was caught in the middle of a rainstorm to arrive at the resturant and them to tell me they refunded my order because they are out of the soup that they only serve on Saturdays, well its Saturday! No offer of a different soup no call to let me know they are out of my order, just me sitting here hungry, cold and wet. I can not tell you if the food is any good but if this service is any indication dont waste your time! I am absolutely livid. I will not return!

I went here for lunch today and I ordered a Cuban sandwich. Very tasty and not too heavy. The service was great and I liked the atmosphere. My sister orders from here a lot and she says it's the best Cuban food in the area. Prices are reasonable too. I recommend this restaurant.

It really saddens me because I have been eating at that place for over 10 years. After the owner passed away everything changed! The service is no longer good, not very friendly. The food completely salty, the beef steak lasted and definitely the taste not as nice as a few years ago...I hope it goes back to its roots because it was our favorite place...

Visited this place with my family while staying in JP. The food and portion sizes were great and the staff were friendly.

The food was very flavorful, with speedy service, nice staff, and a very inviting environment. My mom had the sopa de marisco, kids spilt a cuban sandwich, I had the ropa vieja with white rice and black beans and tostones. Very generous portions, too! It's definitely a must if you're in the area!

Been coming here for years and stop in if I'm in the neighborhood, as I don't live in the area. Always get the Ropa Vieja. My favorite dish. Great smoothies as well. I especially like the Guava Smoothie.

Overall, the rating is 3 stars. The food was 3.5 stars. The portions were 2.5 stars and the service was 2.5 stars. The cafe con leche is amazing but had hair in it...definitely killed the vibe. There are regulars and locals that give it a nice homey feeling. The service is friendly. The food took a while for some reason even though only about two tables were filled. I ordered the ox tails, and they came out in a delicious sauce served on a plate. The plate was too small for the dish, and it was hard to scoop the sauce on my rice without spilling it. It should be served on a bigger plate, a deeper dish, or even a bowl. The steak was a bit over cooked and lacked flavor. The maduros were dry. The rice and beans were great. Overall, it's a solid spot. It's just that the cost doesn't match the portions.

I've eaten at a lot of Latin restaurants, but this one is the hidden gem. Little did I expect such a delicious Cuban sandwich, the empanadas were delicious, and the croquetas de Jamon were simply delectable. To top it off the price was great. Small gems like this are disappearing, and trust me you don't want to miss this one.

I was rushed to the emergency room immediately after eating here! The green mussel served with the ceviche May have not been fresh or was contaminated. Everything else was great, the snapper, the rice and plantain. I just got extremely sick. I was the only one who had the mussel so everyone else at my table was fine and enjoyed the food. The smoothies are good too.

Bad food. Hurtful dishonest service. Not a nice place at all. The lemonade was ok. We paid $50 for disgusting food we did not eat.
