Overall, this was a nice experience to start our New England vacation. The rooms are fine but are starting to show some wear. My 2 comments are how hot the hotel was especially during the night which for me makes it hard to sleep. I suspect that there might be a setting for air conditioning to dial back during the early morning hours before sunrise. The second comment is regarding the breakfast. Service was really slow and I did not enjoy the food. I got the avocado toast and the avocado tasted off. My family felt their breakfast was just okay not the quality of a 5 star hotel. The concierge was really helpful and the staff were friendly.

Lovely staff, beautiful rooms, very clean. The location is more in the financial district of Boston so it's perfect if you are on a business trip. It is a little further from North End and Downtown for sightseeing and restaurants. Towels were a little rough, would have expected better quality for a hotel this nice. Additionally, water temperature was very difficult to keep stable. It took a long time to warm up and then it got way way too hot. Valet was a little rude to us when we were picking up our car. I was not emailed a receipt/folio for my stay and had to call to get one. This should have been easy but I had to talk to two representatives and sat on hold for almost 20 minutes. Overall still an amazing hotel and great time was had.

This is our first visit to the hotel in 4 years. Certain aspects of the hotel remain superb. Patrick, the senior Bell Boy co-ordinates activities out side the hotel. The conciege staff led by Rob along with Adam are full of suggestions and keen to assist. Some reception staff are willing to help and others lack some basic knowledge on the hotel. In time, this might improve. Yaro the reception manager is aware of these shortcomings. IHG Ambassador status was not dully recognised despite contacting the hotel prior to our visit. There is a well equipped gym, spa and pool on the 2nd level. The biggest let down is the food and beverage offering. Breakfast on the first floor is basic with limited choice and no pride in the selection or presentation. The choice of breakfast is exactly the same in The Club Lounge where it is self service. The Club Lounge whilst presenting snacks and food in an attractive manner throughout the day, does not label any hot or cold food and there are insufficient utensils to avoid cross contamination from meat and cheese. If you have any dietary concerns and avoid certain foods, the lounge is not for you. Soft drinks are provided in the lounge along with tea and coffee. Sparkling water is not chilled and is available on request. The common area around the rooms are littered with used room service trays and staff clear these infrequently. The Hotel whilst having some superb staff, has really let standards slip and does not pay attention to detail. The rooms are cleaned thoroughly and housekeeping, after 2 calls do accomodate requests. Evening turn down is hit or me. I do have doubts that on returning to Boston, this will be my hotel of choice.

My wife and I have gone to this intercontinental in Boston about 35 times in the last 10-12 years. And we always pay extra to have access to the Club Lounge. The extra cost was typically $75-100 dollars pre Covid. Now it's $150/night. Which is still fine. But some little things have been removed. The weekend omelet station and newspapers. Also the small refrigerator stocked with Fiji water. And down in the lobby for years was a store with typical snacks and toiletries you may need. As well as lot's of unique and boutique type clothing for men and women. And all the Boston sports team logo wear. Now no store. Overall we still love the hotel, the service and the location. But losing the "little things" changes the feeling of 4 stars.

We stayed for 2 nights here. The location is excellent to explore the historical sites of Boston. The tea party museum is a 5 min walk along the water (from the back entrance of the hotel) and Long Warf, Fanueil Hall, North End are just a few minutes longer walk. The rooms are comfortable and IHG diamond status was recognized. We chose the breakfast amenity and ordered off the a la cart menu. The food was great. It was pretty busy, so it took a few minutes to be seated both days. This seems to be a popular hotel for weddings. We were happy with our stay.

Excellent hotel. Close to the subway which we used daily. Walking distance to many restaurants and attractions. Very clean, very quiet. Only downside, and it was not a big deal, it is close to a fire station so we did hear fire trucks but it was not a distraction. Comfortable beds and pillows. Room was a nice size. Bathroom had separate tub and shower. Overall a great place to stay.

I had a short stay at the Intercontinental Boston at the end of a longer trip - we are members of the Ambassadors Club, so the guaranteed room upgrade and late checkout felt ideal for the end of our trip with a late flight to catch. Unfortunately, the hotel fell quite some way short of the standard I have come to expect from Intercontinental properties. Hotel location is good, easy to walk to lots of sights and restaurants, and is close to the subway. You can park for a short time outside the front of the hotel if you need to unload a car and get checked in. Check-in was slow and conducted by a member of staff who spoke poor English - communication was difficult and he didn't seem to understand what we were asking for when we confirmed we wanted the 4pm checkout that was supposed to be guaranteed. We eventually got it sorted but it wasn't really the welcome and introduction to the hotel that I had hoped for. The porter who helped us with our bags was much friendlier and more helpful in explaining where things were in the hotel. The room itself was nice enough, although it wasn't really clear what the "upgrade" we were supposedly getting actually got us - the room looked exactly like the one on the website, so I assume the upgrade at this particular property is based on view rather than room category. There was plenty of space and the bed was comfortable, though there were a few oddities - only one bathrobe for two people, hardly any hangers in the wardrobe, and the towels and bath mat were quite thin and worn out (the bath mat looked like a ratty old towel with holes in it). The minibar contains very little space for storing anything you want to keep cold and will charge automatically if you remove anything, so we were advised by the porter to inform reception if we needed extra space for refrigeration. There was also ice available down the hall. We had drinks in the bar where we received excellent service from the staff, including when we came back after dinner and found it very busy - they remembered we had been in earlier in the evening and served us promptly. Unfortunately, the good service from the bar does not extend to breakfast. We had breakfast included in our room rate, but on arrival at the restaurant we were told by a very offhand hostess that it would be a 25 minute wait for a table - not something I have ever experienced in hundreds of hotel stays around the world and clearly something that was confusing many guests. When we queried why the wait was so long when we could see around a dozen tables empty, she told us firstly that the tables were dirty (they weren't, they were all set with napkins, glasses and cutlery) and when challenged further told us that to seat too many people at once would be bad service (though probably not as bad as refusing to seat them at all). Consequently there were a lot of people just hanging around near the entrance to the restaurant - we were not prepared to do this and left. The member of staff I lodged a complaint with on reception was helpful - she remove the cost of breakfast from our rate, and also granted us access to the 12th floor club so we could get something to eat. This was a really disappointing experience and very poor service from a supposed luxury hotel - I suspect they were short-staffed in the restaurant, but I would rather have been told that honestly than be fed obvious lies about dirty tables and treated like an inconvenience for expecting to get what we were paying for. On the day of checkout, despite having confirmed when we arrived that we would be staying until 4pm, we came back from lunch to find that our minibar had already been locked so we could no longer access the bottles of water we had left there. Housekeeping then also showed up while we were still in the room. These things may have just been a lack of communication, but they added to the overall feeling we already had that we were an inconvenience to the hotel and they would rather we weren't there. Overall a disappointing experience and not what I expected.

Lovely hotel in Boston, located within walking distance of South Station right in Down Town. For a video review of our room, head over to You.Tube and search for 'Tim and Matt Travel for this and many more' The room was spacious and clean with a view out the front of the property. The room and hotel as a whole was maintained well and cleanliness of a high standard. We did not eat in the hotel but there are a ton of places within walking distance to this hotel. Staff were always friendly and personable helping us with any questions we had as this was our first time in Boston.

Hotel is in a great location. Is immaculate inside and rooms are spacious and very nice. Stayed on 11th floor and great views. Wi-Fi great throughout the hotel. Only downside staff didn’t mention spend limit on breakfast at check in and had to wait 1 1/2hrs after check in till we got into our room, as room wasn’t ready. First morning we went for breakfast, restaurant only about a third full, but had to wait for a table. 3 hostesses who weren’t very welcoming and looked like they wanted to be somewhere else. Once seated at table lacked settings and condiments and the poor waiter seemed to be the only one working. Food was nice when it arrived. Be wary if in a family room only 2 people are covered by the breakfast included. Defo recommend heading out to some downtown establishments for breakfast rather than hotel, which is pricey .

Intercontinental Boston delivered one of our best and most memorable hotel stays. We enjoyed 7 nights here. The customer service experience was outstanding. All departments of the hotel delivered exceptional service. Our check-in experience was professional, super friendly and informative. The perfect start! A special mention to the team who manage the daily room clean (Our room was 502). The room was cleaned to a very high standard and the team member who looked after our room was super warm and friendly. It was a pleasure seeing her everyday, working super hard to deliver the best standards for this hotel. We enjoyed some amazing breakfasts. Special thank you to Annie who served us at breakfast. A perfect host and exceptional service. We used the Club Lounge during our stay. A fantastic experience. Great space to relax. The management team at this hotel have got the perfect balance here. The food, drinks and the space were just right. Plenty of options! Krish, Francesca and Dennis were the perfect hosts. By far the best club lounge team I have ever come across. Attention to detail, warm, welcoming and always provided plenty of tips of places to visit in Boston. Thank you. We look forward to visiting again.

Hands up at the start of this review, the reason we tried the IC is because the top-tier luxury hotels in so many places are now very pricey, especially if you like the space of a suite. Check-in was fast and efficient and our suite was ready when we arrived slightly early (around 2.45pm). I had joined Intercontinental Ambassador previously when I tried the Atlanta property at new year, so this meant I got a free weekend night here and we were upgraded from the suite we booked to a corner suite, which was very spacious and had 1.5 bathrooms (something I like very much). The IC Boston has had recent renovations though I would say they were not comprehensive. Some things have clearly been entirely updated/ redecorated, but other items – especially woodwork and some furniture – looked a bit old-fashioned and worn in places. The bathroom was a good size with plenty of storage (and his/ hers hairdryers) and the bed was very comfortable. The bedroom was perfectly quiet at all times. The lobby is VERY airy and spacious and it has a lovely fire in the fireplace at all hours of the day, which is most welcoming. One of the things I liked best was the Club Lounge. There was always plenty of seating and breakfasts were comprehensive for a Club Floor with a choice of some hot items, as well as fruit, smoked salmon, yogurts etc. Staff in the Club were delightful and extremely helpful, happily accommodating my picky requirements over my cups of tea. Although I didn’t partake of the evening snack offerings, again they looked generous and appetizing – I wished I didn’t have dinner reservations each night! Also the concierge here (Adam Castiglioni) was excellent. Very well-informed, organized and competent – one of the best concierges I have seen in a long time. All staff we met were in fact very good: helpful and positive. The gym is also large and well equipped and open 24 hours, which is something I always appreciate. As I said at the start, we had decided to try the IC to see whether the price difference with the top-tier was justifiable and whether we would always be prepared to pay for it. And, if money is seriously no object to you, then you’re probably not even reading a review for an Intercontinental. For genuine luxury-lovers there IS a difference between the IC and what you get at, say, a good Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton but whether it’s worth paying more than twice as much for that difference is highly debatable, especially in city hotels when you are often out. Of course I will continue with my love affair with the Four Seasons et al and stay in them some of the time (in fact I am at the FS Astir Palace later this month), but many of us are weighing up cost versus value and for hotel groups like the IC who are evidently investing in excellent staff and refurbs this is their opportunity, provided they keep their prices competitive. I daresay I will be back!

We stayed there for a week and it was amazing! The pool was very big and the gym was incredible. The gym had great views, spacious area, lots of equipment and cool towels for after. We stayed in a family room and it was every spacious. The bathroom had a shower and bath with a big sink area. The breakfast had a wide variety with buffets on the weekend. The service was occasionally slow but it was amazing. Definitely go there again!

The Intercontinental Boston is an exceptional hotel with luxurious accommodations and top-notch amenities. The standout feature, however, is the exceptional customer service provided by the front desk manager, Yaro. Located in the heart of Boston, Yaro's professionalism, attentiveness, and customer service skills truly made my stay unforgettable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Boston or just looking for a staycation.

My family and I have been looking forward to our return to the Intercontinental since our memorable visit last year, and once again, we were absolutely blown away. After being surrounded by the familiar sweet aromas of the lobby, Maxx welcomed us back home. Her warm greeting reaffirmed our love for the intercontinental, as her inviting spirit made us all feel at ease. Her warmth, thoughtfulness and knowledge of the area were all above and beyond. Not only did she welcome us in with open arms, but also sent complimentary sweets up to our room less than an hour later! We can all say this has been the best welcome we’ve ever experienced at a hotel.
