Thought the rustic atmosphere and mediocre service indicated the food was good as Chinese restaurants usually tend to be. The reviews here were assuring, but I’ve never had cakes and pies as bad as these. I’m never picky about my food and finish everything, but the meat pie was sweet and pale pink, as if raw from the inside. The crust tasted like dense sawdust. And the coconut cherry cake tasted like it had been sitting there for days, the taste of stale and dust. I’m very sad it turned out to be this bad. But the prices were cheap :)

Unassuming bakery with excellent prices (cheapest in the area) and fantastic assortment. Don’t be surprised that it looks like an industrial break room, but the owners are kind and welcoming and the baked goods are very much worth

Clean, organized bakery. Selection was a little more limited compared to some other bakeries, but what they do, they do well. Got a pork floss bun, a cream cake, and zongzi (glutinous rice dumpling). The woman who was helping me asked if I planned to eat the zongzi now to later so that she could give me a warm one if I was going to comsume it immediately. Cannot wait to eat the goodies

They used to be located in the cross section at a better location and have since moved. We were so bummed when we thought they had closed down as they were our favorite. No fancy decorations, gimmicky packaging. Just an excellent traditional bakery we are seeing fewer of for the past decade. Excellent bakery items esp their almond cookies which are out-of-this world tasty.

Mei sum bakery is a great place to stop by for a quick bite! They've got all sorts of Chinese pastries, buns and dimsum. From congee to banh mi to rice noodle rolls. All the food is super fresh, and they provide sauces in the to go boxes, which I think is a huge plus! The food is quite cheap and the service is great! You can't go wrong with anything you order. I have to say, it's a bit hard to find the restaurant. I've walked by many times, but haven't noticed it. Parking also may be difficult since it's located in the heart of Boston's Chinatown. Overall rating: 9/10

This amazing bakery has the best cakes and pastries in the entire Boston area! My only go-to bakery whenever I am craving for cakes, something sweet but no too sweet, airy and light in texture fresh spongy cakes!

Waited for a few minutes for the woman working here to finish her current task. two people come in, speaking the same language as the woman, and immediately get served before me. Not a good look

The banh mi was excellent! Really hit the spot. While it wasn't stuffed with filling, I don't know that banh mi are meant to be? It had a good combination of meats and a nice toasted bread. However, I wasn't as impressed with the pastries. The egg tart had a very meh shell. I didn't think the black bean bing shell was flaky enough or the filling especially tasty. The fried sweet taro bread was decent though.I get the impression that this is a hit or miss kind of bakery and so familiarity with the best items might help.

I love going to this spot for a quick bite. The best zongzi in town (they're my grandfather's favorite!), the pastries are fresh, my only complaint is no one told me they serve banh mi until today. The sandwich isn't the most packed, but the bread is toasted to perfection, the ingredients are fresh and tasty, and altogether it's pretty filling even though it's on the smaller sideNaihuangbao (custard buns) are a personal favorite of mine and these don't disappointThey don't always have the biggest selection, but everything here is worth a try. I buy these zongzi by the dozen and they freeze really well (my family literally requests them when I go home). I'm not sure if they like, but you can always ask for things to be heated up a bit before you eat. This place doesn't look like much but it's a hit!

Love their durian cake. I usually call the same day to order. It takes about an hour to bake a cake. Today when I called, a guy was answering the phone who spoke broken Vietnamese. I told him what kind of cake I wanted and what to write on it. He didn't bother to listen and kept saying "ok ok ok" and hung up. I had to call again and told him please write HBD Chanh. I'm buying the cake for my employee so I didn't want his name got mess up.2 hours later, I came to pick up the cake, the guy went to the back to get the cake and rushed to box it up. I didn't get a chance to see the cake.No wonder he didn't want me to see the cake. The message on the cake was so sloppy. My 3 year old niece can write better than him.
