FDA Advises Restaurants and Retailers Not to Serve or Sell and Consumers Not to Eat Chopped Clams Illegally Harvested in Massachusetts and Distributed by Red's BestDecember 12, 2023The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is advising consumers not to eat, and restaurants and food retailers not to sell, and to dispose of Red's Best chopped clams illegally harvested from prohibited waters in MA on 11/25/2023 and 11/26/2023 with lot numbers # 331 and # 333, and shuck dates of 23/331 and 23/333, because they may be contaminated. The chopped clams were directly distributed to distributors and retailers in CT, MA, NY, and RI and may have been distributed further from these states.Clams harvested illegally may be contaminated with human pathogens, toxic elements or poisonous or deleterious substances and can cause illness if consumed. Clams are filter feeders that remove and bioaccumulate bacteria and other pathogens from the water. It is not uncommon for shellfish to be consumed raw and whole. Contaminated clams can cause illness if eaten raw, particularly in people with compromised immune systems. Clams contaminated with pathogens may look, smell, and taste normal.

Fish sandwich was fantastic. Huge portion of perfectly fried cod. Cornichon tartar sauce on the buttery roll was the perfect compliment. Will definitely get again!

I had a lobster roll there as part of a foodie tour. In my opinion, the flavor was very bland. I don't know if they boil the lobster there but the flavor just wasn't there. If its any consolation, the lobster roll at Pier 6 Restaurant was also on the bland side.

Not a bad item on the menu. Tried the lobster roll first and I thought nothing could be better. I was wrong - get the scallop roll!
If you don’t go here for lobster rolls, you’re seriously missing out. Buy a pound of fresh lobster and ask for some rolls and a side of butter..BAM. Too delicious. Also fried calamari, clam chowder, and their blueberry lemonade were all superb!

After trekking along on the Freedom Trail all morning and early afternoon, we decided to give our feet a rest and grab some lunch. I had scoped out this place since it was nearby to Faneuil Hall.There were a couple of people in front of me buying fish to prepare at home. My wife decided on the fish and chips, and I had a lobster roll and a cup of chowder. The lobster roll was great and had plenty of meat. I appreciated the lack of mayonnaise in the recipe. The clam chowder was good but needed more clams and some salt. I added some Tabasco sauce to kick it up a little. My wife loved the fish and chips. The fries were plentiful, fresh, and delicious. Even after helping her with the fries, there were still quite a few left. I like that wasn't in a traditional setting as there was plenty of seating. Definitely would come back here to try some of their other options.

Lobster roll and scallop roll are fantastic! It feels weird to be dropping so much money at a counter serve restaurant but the food is well priced for how good quality it is.

They have an excellent lobster roll here. It might seem expensive but I’d deem the price worth it as you get a pretty full serving of lobster meat on top of a heavenly buttered roll. The sauce and other ingredients are enough to complement the taste but not prevalent enough to overpower the main focus of the lobster.
