Everything about this place is great. I had breakfast with some friends as I do most Saturdays. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and welcoming.

Consistently not taking take out orders during business hours. You should get your takeout elsewhere.

A clear example of PASSIVE DISCRIMINATION: I went around 12:30pm on a saturday and I was hoping to get some late breakfast. Unfortunately I was discriminated by the host as soon as I got there. I entered the Café and there was only a couple with a baby and me in the waiting area. The couple was eventually seated and then there was just me there, standing by the bar so the host could see me. The host, a tall caucasian male wearing blue jeans and gray hoodie; Instead of greeting me just gave me a side eye and said “I’ll be with you in a minute” and passed me by. (He didn’t ask me anything). At some point more people arrived to the restaurant and into the waiting area. The guy came back and started to ask everybody“how many?” (Everybody except me of course) I heard a lady that came in sometime after me say “there’s 3 of us” but she was alone (her companions probably were on their way there, I thought). After some time a table cleared and to my surprise the host came to grab that lady;“your table is ready” he said to her. I was very upset, to the point of asking myself the usual questions white caucasian folks in their privilege NEVER ask themselves and people like me ask frequently in situations like these, in this country. Would’ve this happened to a white person, was it because I was Mexican?..is this guy a racist? Or Is this about how much I would consume in the restaurant compared to a party of 3 and that’s why I wasn’t a priority to the business? Mind you I am not brown but I’m short and I like to think that my features can tell you I’m latino or at least not from here, that being said I was the only latin customer there (except maybe the workers behind the counter, probably that’s where the host is used to see them instead…working in the back..instead of…serving them) and if you think that all of that may be an exaggeration, well, all I can say is: good for you!, I wouldn’t wish anyone to feel what I felt that day. I was just paralyzed..you know? What do I do? , just wait and suck it up? Keep quiet and pretend that never happened? I mean, I was hungry..and that didn’t help..I had taken an uber all the way from Quincy to be there cause I felt like I was already a regular and then this happens. It took me some time to gather courage to confront him asking if there was any reason why he gave the lady the table (which by the way, was still sitting by herself, no party of 3) instead of me. He just said that he didn’t know who was next (strange, since he had noticed and talked to me earlier when I was the only one there)..Did you ask?” I replied..He just dismissed me saying “No” and said that another table would eventually clear and left me waiting again. The other people in the waiting room noticed what happened, staring at me and whispering amongst themselves. I Didn’t raised my voice or anything but they noticed what had happened I felt embarrassed and decided to go outside, it was raining but I didn’t care, I just didn’t want people staring at me like that anymore. I was very upset. After a few minutes outside I decided to go back inside and ask if I could talk to the manager (discretely). She listened to my story but ultimately she said she was sorry but she was very busy and that she had too many things going on at the time. She then dismissed me and went back to whatever she was doing in the back. I said I was sorry to bother her and left. I know they used to have a nice lady as host in the past (like I said, I was a regular) but then learned she had passed away or convalescing. That’s a shame, the current host is nowhere near her soft skills. I hope the manager takes action in coaching her staff about equal treatment and respect to customers despite gender, race, religion or background.

I go here frequently. The smoothies are excellent. The hash is delicious. I appreciate the fact that you can get a half order of hash and a small side of fruit. Occasionally I get the cookies or brownies and they are outstanding. Everyone is always friendly.

This is my absolute favorite brunch spot in the greater Boston area!! The menu is expansive, including cocktails, coffee options, and smoothies/milkshakes. On Fridays-Sundays, they also serve pie, and their apple pie is the best I've ever had! My fiancé and I frequently hike at Blue Hills (15 min drive away), then stop here afterwards for brunch, and the espresso milkshake is such a good treat after a hike/run! There can be a wait on the weekends, but the line moves fast, and the food is 100% worth the wait.

They had me at Valrhona Hot Chocolate! The food was great, decent portions, and full of flavor. Honestly...it's in the name...just such a sweet place to eat. Great to enjoy with friends, family or a date.

Review from Jan 2023 fyi!Sat down at the bar/counter and waited to be served by anyone. A couple came in about 10 minutes after me and also waited for a menu, which was provided along with water and a polite hello. I received none of the above. The woman even asked her partner "why didn't he give him a menu?" and tried to give me hers. I said thank you and politely declined. More time passed and I was not greeted nor even given a menu to order (or water). Yes, I am black, the couple was white. I am not one to jump to race relations or even deem people/places as biased or racist. But I was not served after about 30-35 mins nor spoken to (AT THE BAR IN THE FRONT OF THE RESTAURANT). Doubt I will go here ever again and had a terrible experience from an establishment I thought was inclusive!.

If you don't know about the corned beef hash and eggs here yet, you are missing out. We love it for takeout during Sunday football. Always very busy on the weekend, seems like they are working out a few kinks. Best is to order at the counter, rather than over the phone for takeout. Power sandwich is delicious but wished they toasted the bread consistently. Restaurant is clean and lively.
