the food is not like the pictures. The chicken mouse patte was refrigerator temperature with cold olive oil gelatinous mass holding onto soggy almonds. The "County bread" was flat hamburger bun flattened, resembling a bioch like crust and it lacked the herbs and other mentioned items. It in a common madon jar was served without much thought put into it probably made earlier in the week right out of a fridge. I thought the order was wrong as I came here because of previously posted pictures from months ago, but was disappointed enough not to finish the 18$ plate.loved the style and art on the menu, and thought about showing it to others, till our server passed us by too often and it became too laborious to get their attention again till our check arrived. Would not go back if my meal was free, feel like there was so little care put into the cocktail and food the place is trying to survive on style alone.

a dimly lit sexy little speakeasy with delicious drinks! wow! what a fun and cool spot. cocktails felt like a masterclass...the soy boy??? so impressed. the flavor pairings the bartenders are putting together really blew me away. came on a busy saturday night with a reservarion and had to wait around 20 minutes. hostess was super sweet, service from the servers was just okay.

My only regret is that I tainted my palate with other, substandard cocktails before coming in here. This was the one place I discovered during my Boston adventure research that I knew had to be visited - it was a cocktail spirit animal. You know it when you see it. It had multiple edgy bourbon-based cocktails, and the menu looked like a mishmash of magazine ads from the 1940s.My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I initially stopped here around late dinner time (maybe 7:30ish?), only to be told there was a 90-minute wait (that seems to be incredibly common from other reviews). The Wig Shop doesn't take reservations, so you're basically at the mercy of its popularity on a given night. An uncomfortable reality of having great taste. We got a text alert that our table was ready while we were still eating dinner nearby, but thankfully when we came back around 10:30, they had immediate availability and we were seated in the first room by the door. Despite being told there was a 90-minute limit on seating, I'm positive we were there for at least two hours and probably more, but the miserable early March rain kept the Gen Zers at bay for the most part. There was no way I wasn't going with the Mala Vida, which featured BFF bourbon, cinnamon, passionfruit and coffee. That combo had no business being perfect, and I'm having fun imagining a hipster science lab (plaid shirts instead of lab coats) where someone figured that one out. Delicious. Easily a top 10 cocktail of all time for me, and again, that's having already diluted my palate earlier in the evening - if I'd come into this one fresh, I might be making more dramatic statements. I had at least two of these, and would have made a return trip at some point during the weekend if we'd had more time to play with. The service was great - we were certainly in no rush, which helped, but I don't recall ever looking around for a new cocktail. And alternatively, no one was oppressively bearing down on us throughout the experience, which wouldn't have been THAT surprising given the table time limit we were given. True to speakeasy form, it was super dark in there - there are pictures of us that literally and figuratively will never see the light of day. There WAS enough light to see the people on the opposite couch, who were very nice - everyone we interacted with was very pleasant. I suspect being in a wig shop speakeasy has that effect on most people.Strong, strong recommend. If you're looking for actual wigs to purchase though, you'll probably be disappointed.

cool speakeasy right in downtown! obsessed with the design of the menu AND you can tell the smart decisions that were made with their cocktails. the soy boy stood out to us the most, literally tasted like I was eating dumpling sauce or peanut noodles in a cocktail????? sounds interesting but was actually an insane experience! service was a bit slow, but the hostess was super sweet and transparent and honestly saw them interacting with our tables more than the servers... but great place to grab a drink or two with friends, loved the vibes!

I went on Friday February 16th around 6:42pm and had my name on the waiting list for 1 hour 46 minutes which is fine. When I had the confirmation by text about my table being ready for me, I showed up before the 10 minutes waiting time and they said “sorry your name is not on the list” and ask me to reserve again and wait another 2 hours. As I was talking to the waiter I noticed another 2 persons having the same issue.

After being quoted a 1.5 hour wait time, I returned after 2 hours to find that the table still wasn’t ready. There reasoning was that a table was supposed to have gotten up 30 minutes prior and hadn’t. We decided to stick it out and wait another 20 minutes for a table to open and the first thing that was told to us as we sat down was that there was a 90 minute time limit on the table. We then waited 20 minutes for a waiter to come, but they never did. My wife had to go up and physically get a server to take our order. After we ordered, they forgot the actual cup for my drink and I had to go up and get it myself. This was punctuated by the fact that manager didn’t even offer to comp any of this. Bad all around.

I think the concept is really cool. I recommend getting a reservation because when you walk in there is a wait time that very much varies. Luckily for us only took 10 minutes to wait for a table of six. It’s really small it’s just a hallway really. The drinks were delicious and the menu design was also cool. You do have a 90 minute time limit as other people are coming in as well, so be mindful of that.

This is a Speak easy restaurant located right in downtown Boston! Small, quiet, and cute. Very well decorated with lots of velvets. The service is very good. Great drink menu and good sharing tapas plates. Advance reservations are highly recommended

The Wig Shop was my favorite spot I stopped in during my weekend trip to Boston. I had discovered it while researching some post-dinner drinks in the area and was drawn to the unique drinks. We put our name down for about a 1.5 hour wait. When we received the text that our table was ready, we arrived to a cute little area with a small couch and some comfy seats. Service was really friendly and quick, but we didn't feel particularly rushed or pressured to order a second drink. That said, there is a 90-minute limit that they warned us about when we arrived, so keep that in mind! Drink-wise, I ordered the Helena and my friend ordered the I Feel Pretty. We both thoroughly enjoyed our drinks and while we didn't order food, the food menu looked fun. One other thing that I really appreciated about the atmosphere was that it definitely had a speakeasy feel to it, but wasn't overly crowded and didn't feel pretentious like some other speakeasies I've been to. All in all, I would certainly recommend The Wig Shop to anyone looking for a cool cocktail spot.
