Great open terrace for casually enjoying a brew. Plenty of choices on tap. Well informed bartender to recommend for your taste.

Turtle swamp brewing and it's landlord Monty gold have sued to block the construction of desperately needed affordable housing in the neighborhood. Bad company.

I was about to recommend turtle swamp to my team for after-work beers, because they're right in the neighborhood, and I remember enjoying one of their IPAs. I was scrolling through reviews to get some answers about various things when I noticed they recently opposed an affordable housing measure.I will not support a company that is actively destroying the community it operates in. I will not be back, and will be actively dissuading other beer lovers from stopping by.

Such a cool local brewery with great IPAs but also a solid selection of pilsners, stouts & sours. Plus they have a large selection of board games and a spacious patio.

Cute place Their flights are served in old muffin tins. I liked most of the beer that I tried. Service was friendly

This place is amazing, from the staff to the set up to the beer. We hosted an event for about 75 people here and we couldn't have asked for a smoother process. I can't believe it's taken me this long to discover this place but we will definitely be returning. Jack was our bartender and he was simply the best. He was attentive, and seemed to be everywhere all at once. I hope others continue to support this small business!

We rented their upstairs lounge for a small engagement party, they were super helpful before, during and after the event, and the variety of beers was great! Everyone loved it.

My wife and I happened upon Turtle Swamp while staying in JP recently. The space was welcoming and the tunes were fantastic -- rediscovering Emperor X was a welcome surprise. The staff was knowledgeable regarding the beers. The owner, John, was incredibly kind and talked with my wife and I for quite some time about the multiple uses of the wonderful word "y'all."The beers were delicious. We brought home some of the DIPA and I really enjoyed the Hopfen as well.John -- if you see this, a "Y'all Means All" sticker is on the way to the brewery. Thanks again for the beers, conversation, and welcoming atmosphere.

Great small brewery! We are from out of town and it was definitely worth the stop. Very informative owner and a variety of different types of beer. We did a flight of 6 and between the two of us, enjoyed all of them. Cool vibe with indoor/outdoor seating.

Turtle Swamp is a cute little, DIY-feel brewery in my neighborhood, Jamaica Plain. I desperately want to like it. Unfortunately the beer is pretty mediocre (with the exception of perhaps the Orange Line) and they are / were in the midst of a very public lawsuit against the affordable housing project across the street. Why open in the city and then refuse to be good neighbors? I want to return here, but there's just nothing to justify it.

Interesting and varied beer selection with descriptions of tasting notes, which I greatly appreciate, and very nice outdoor/indoor seating. When we were there there was also some form of string quartet playing which certainly added quite a bit of atmosphere and panache to the setting. Simple space but very well kept, clean, and everything seemed new. Only food option I saw was hot dogs but none of my party of 9 had any. Didn't nab a picture honestly because I was having such a great time

Great local brewery. Nice to find a spot with a variety of styles and not just IPAs, they do a great Pilsner, Porter and English Bitter. I also love the mix of indoor and outdoor seating and the fact that they serve their beer in proper glassware and not disposable plastic cups (better drinking experience and good for the environment). They have food trucks during busier hours. The owners, John and Nik are super nice as is the rest of the staff.A little music to liven up the atmosphere would get them closer to 5 stars IMO.

The beer here is not good enough for a detour. There are so many good breweries in Boston and the greater Boston area, don't waste your money at Turtle Swamp. If you are in the area and interested in a beer outside, then go up the street to Sam Adams. Turtle Swamp has a decent outdoor area but that's all. The only reason to go is if your family member works there.

Staff can be great, the space is nice (although every single bench and table is a little shaky), and the beer is hit-or-miss. I like the orange line IPA when I'm in the right mood. Sometimes the staff is nice enough to pour you a sample, other times they tell you they don't pour samples and then pour them for other customers.I'm also not too happy about their opposition to affordable housing in the neighborhood, but I won't let this be reflected in the 'star' portion of the review. However, we won't be back for this reason.
