The service was impeccable, Jesus our server is always very gracious, knowledgeable and very attentive. Giovanni always stops by to greet us! We love Umbria. Will definitely return soon.

We had a wonderful meal here for restaurant week. I had tuna tartare, filet mignon, and chocolate cake, and all the courses were amazing. Staff is extremely helpful and attentive. Definitely recommend.

The drinks & food were amazing but unfortunately the staff ruined our experience at Umbria. We came in to try Umbria for the first time for Dine Out Week in Boston. We were all really excited about the prefixed menu option. When we checked in, they said we had to eat on the rooftop deck for some reason. We were fine with that & made our way upstairs. We thought it was strange to get our ID's checked at the rooftop deck just to sit for dinner but we went along with it. We had to ask for menus and silverware since no one brought them to us up there. Our waitress then brought over 2 of the 4 wrong drinks. We then tried to order from the prefixed menu but what we didn't know was that upstairs is technically a separate entity? It was never mentioned to us that we were unable to do the prefixed menu upstairs. Other tables were also upset with this issue too. So we then had to trek back downstairs with full drinks in hands; half by the time we made it downstairs. Our upstairs waitress made a very snarky comment to us about losing out on a table. We found the host, who didn't know where to put us despite us having a reservation for Umbria, not Mia. We finally get sat and enjoy the wonderful food on the prefixed menu. Despite us being frigid, we really enjoyed our meal. The steak was cooked to perfection. We're wrapping up dessert when our waiter makes an awful joke. One member of our party has a severe peanut/tree nut allergy and asked multiple times if the dessert options were safe. When she finally started to eat it, he made a “joke” that there actually were nuts in the dessert. Absolutely inappropriate and made us all very uncomfortable. It's really unfortunate because the food was amazing but the disorganization and inappropriate remark from the server makes us not want to return.

Went there with my family for Dine Out Boston. Table was ready at our reservation time. Waiter was excellent. Service was good. Food was fair, and the portion size of the main course was clearly less had we ordered from the main menu. Substitutions were not allowed on the Dine Out Menu which is typical. It was very loud so if you are looking for a quiet dinner this would not be the place.

Recently dined at Umbria for Boston Restaurant week and am sad to say I was disappointed. The food was just average, nothing particularly memorable. Where I truly docked stars, however, was the excruciatingly slow service and the incredibly loud atmosphere. We waited for over 30 minutes just to have our drink order taken, and I could hardly hear my friends over the music and the noise from other tables. Considering the price, I wouldn't recommend at all.

Husband and I had a great dinner that was part of Dine Out Boston. The yellowfin tuna tartare was to die for! Our filet mignon was cooked to perfection. The Espresso Martini is a must!

As we entered the restaurant, the decor is beautifully done, even the bathroom was the talk of the table. Anthony, our waiter, was very attentive and made us feel right at home! Not to mention the many helping hands filling up our water glasses continuously without us asking and cleaning up the crumbs on the table! And the food, omg my swordfish was delish and swordfish is hard to cook! I've never seen my picky sister/mom cleaned up the fruitri di mare in record time before! We're definitely coming back! The only bad thing is finding parking but that's to be expected around the Northend.

The food was not that great. Somewhat acceptable... great location. We had a reservation, but I came in a little late. The front desk could not figure out which table to take/direct me.3 staff members at the front desk just looking at each other spaced out.So I just had to call my co-worker to figure it out, and she had to come up and meet me at the front desk to get me. There's much better service/food elsewhere.

My husband and I dine out a lot. We were excited to eat at Umbria. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. We arrived at our reservation time and were seated promptly. Our server was very nice We were told that we have to put our entire order in at the beginning which I thought was weird. She said that she would space it out if necessary. Ok. We ordered and our salad came. It was decent. I ordered the lobster dumplings which came looking more like an appetizer than a main pasta dish. My husband got a steak. He said it was ok. We tried to go into the rooftop bar to have an after dinner drink and were denied. Perhaps we weren't young enough or one of the beautiful people I don't know. So we spent our money elsewhere. There are better steakhouses in the city and better restaurants in the North End. Don't waste your time.

Maybe it was because they were overwhelmed due to restaurant week, but i was not impressed with any of the food. Compared to the other restaurants in the north end, this was the worst quality food I've had. Especially for the price. The drinks weren't made well either. Myself and the other member of my party tried three different drinks and weren't impressed by any of them. None of the food was even really warm. It's a shame because the location and design of the restaurant is beautiful.. everything is brand new and looks great. But after dining there, I would prefer the dark crammed old north end restaurants any day of the week.

It took at least 15 minutes for someone to greet us at the table and take our drink orders. The restaurant wasn't even half full. Every other table had a waiter coming over and serving them. It was very strange. We finally had to flag one of them down. Definitely expected better service for what you pay to eat there.

waiter didn't seem like he wanted to be there, ordered a martini that had no alcohol in it (I can tell being 5'2). Meal was average. cost very high. just like a lot of places in the north end, allows its standards to drop and rely on tourists and game day fans to fill it up none the wiser. I came here when it just had opened and it has gone the wrong way. save your money.

Drinks are overpriced. Paying $41 for 2 ounces of whisky which costs $80 at store seems expansive to me.
