Food is hit or miss, service is a bit rough, atmosphere is good.Alaskan maki was very nice; sukiyaki’s taste and quantity make it only about average for the price, tho the beef quality is better than many other places; mushroom soup was a joke; yaki soba was mediocre.

We come here almost once a week and spend in excess of $250 for two, but tonight was a miss. For starters, the fire alarm went off, and while the restaurant had no control over that, standing out in the soaking rain was no picnic. One of our orders was missed, water was never refilled, and we were then overcharged for sake. The waiter, Jeremiah, had a poor attitude, and we still tipped him 20%. What's most astounding is that even after the inconvenience of having to stand in the soaking rain, the management couldn't have thrown in a free dessert. I regret not just walking out when the fire alarm went off, as other tables had done, as tonight was a poor experience, and I'll be taking Fugakyu out of our rotation.

I love coming to FuGaKyu. The atmosphere is fantastic, the food is really delicious, and the menu is extensive so there’s always something new to try.

I love the decor in the restaurant, especially the Koi fish pond next to the waiting area. The sound of the flowing water makes me feel calm.I brought a Saudi friend and she became quite interested in Japanese culture due to her experience! I enjoyed the Unagidon. I also appreciate that the servers dress in traditional clothes!

Great food great service, I had the dragon roll garlic edamame and sashimi fatty tuna. Would definitely recommend this place. We will be going back next time we're in town

Food is solid, very similar to what you would find at other medium-to-high end sushi spots. Prices are definitely steep, bordering outrageous. Service is attentive. Ambiance is very nice inside, they've definitely put a lot of money and energy into decorating it. If you're looking to splurge for sushi in Boston, I think there are some better options out there.

I recently had my birthday dinner here. I've been going to Fugakyu for about 20 years! To this day, they still serve the best sushi/maki in all my travels - from Hawaii, to Mexico, to Aruba even! Hands down there is something unique and special about Fugakyu Japanese Cuisine. If you are a lover of sushi - you have to try this place, guaranteed you will love it. We also love their seafood kaiyaki! Made so well, with a spicy kick to it. No other place can compare. The atmosphere is quiet, personal, intimate. It makes you feel like you are really traveling to Japan, with their tatami rooms and sliding doors that can close fully for a more intimate experience. The servers are wonderful and polite. The service is impeccable quick. Highly recommend Fugakyu- it has never disappointed.

My first meal in Boston, with an attitude of a waitress named Julie. Our waitress was not attentive and wanted us to keep ordering. Overpriced for low quality food. Shrimp tempura roll had little to no shrimp in it. $70 for 2 rolls and sashimi. The food also made my husbands stomach upset immediately after eating and for the following 2 days after. Do not recommend spend your $ elsewhere, unless you like spending your money on low quality food!

We paid $42 for seafood fried rice. It was a large amount of fried rice with two shrimp, two scallops, a piece of squid and a clam. Absolutely overpriced.

This restaurant is for all my foodies who love good quality Japanese cuisine. The restaurant is located on a street with great parking especially on Sunday (it's free) ! The service was fast and efficient, drinks are to die for I got the lychee goblet drink and it was FIRE! But boozy and I loved it! Restaurant is so cute with have to do the booth next time !

The food was very good from the standpoint of being more than you expected and better. The service was the highlight of the night for me as our server was very charismatic, professional, and just embodied hospitality and what it should be. Would go again 100X over.

Upscale Japanese restaurant with very fresh and well executed sushi. The offerings are classic with a lot of expected food. The prices are on the high side but reflect the quality of the ingredient used. Service is courteous and efficient.
