Food was much better when it was the Village Smokehouse with delicious BBQ. But since new owner took over, it was not as good. Still, sad for the staff that they had to close for good due to COVID.

Really solid 'cue! As two Southerners, we go to Boston BBQ joints with low expectations, but overall we enjoyed our meal! To drink, I got the bourbon iced tea ($11) which came with a lemon. It was mighty tasty! My partner got a Corona, which was a bit overpriced at $6, but came with the necessarily lime and paired well with the meal. We shared the Brookline combo (2 proteins, 2 sides) and chose the brisket, baby back ribs, sweet potato fries, and mac n cheese. The brisket was wayy too fatty - only about half of it was edible - so that was a disappointment, but the rest was truly tasty! We LOVED the tender baby back ribs. They fell off the bone and were made even better by dousing them in the two different bbq sauces on the table. We also enjoyed the crispy sweet potato fries and the creamy mac. Our meal also came with two large squares of sweet cornbread with whipped cinnamon butter. This was also so good, although I would have swooned if the bread had been warmed before serving. Our meal was pretty affordable for the amount of food we got, and it helped us temporarily forget about the frigid weather outside. We'll be back now, ya hear?!

I like going when it's low key. The bar is a typical old neighborhood vibe. Decent selection of beers on draft, I personally haven't had any of the cocktails. In regards to the food, I tend to stick with the individual smoked meats which are great. Surprisingly the dry rubbed wings are a real sleeper. If you live in the area, def worth a drop in.

We arrived with a large group on a Sunday evening, and had no problems getting seated. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. We had a large platter to share: meats and sides. The food was as good as Redbones, Blue Ribbon or any other similarly priced BBQ in the area... and the price was reasonable too (by Brookline standards). We'll be back!

The staff here are awesome, the food is generally always good, but recently I feel it's going downhill. The new menu choice has taken away some good items, coupled with the bar being completely understocked yesterday (31st Jan 2020) seems like someone has taken the foot off the pedal. Hoping this review prompts some positive action so I can edit this review for 5 stars. Thanks!

Really disappointed about the menu change. All of my favorite items have been taken off the menu- the street corn, the BBQ Smokehouse burger and the Harvard Street combo. I would come in several times a month to enjoy these at the bar, now I’m not inclined to go back anytime soon. Please bring back these favorites!
