I came here with my family on a whim (our plans to go to a different restaurant were foiled by the marathon). The restaurant is spacious and certainly has a wide array of options. There were some things that I enjoyed, but overall I would rather go to more specialized places for these dishes.I had the Hokkaido Don ($27.95) because I'm a sucker for ikura, sweet shrimp, and scallop. This was pretty good but could've been better. The ikura (salmon eggs) were a bit deflated, so I don't think they were that fresh. The other seafood was decent. The rice was overwhelmingly sour (too much rice vinegar?) so I didn't feel compelled to eat it. The accompanying miso soup was quite salty. My brother had the Sake Don ($22.95), and we both wholeheartedly agreed that Tora Sushi was far superior in terms of value and taste.I also tried a bit of the other dishes. The beef noodle soup was actually quite tasty (not sweet), and the pad see ew was pretty good.Overall Maguro does many dishes decently well, but not enough to choose it over specialized restaurants.

Many items on the menu look very appetizing. The tonkotsu ramen is flavorful. The satay chicken is very tender and juicy. The fried calamari is crispy and soft. Service is good. Would come back again.

What a new local gem! So happy that Brookline has this new addition of high quality Japanese Izakaya. Went back three weeks straight.

I love this place, love their foods, love their service. We were there for lunch they weren’t very busy, so we got all the attention. As you see my photos you will understand why I love their foods.

The variety of meals made it slightly difficult to choose what I wanted to eat because everything looked so yummy! I ended up ordering the spicy miso and it did not disappoint. My friend ordered Uni nigiri and when it came out we were surprised it came with 2 pieces! Usually at other places, you would spend 14-18$ on one piece , but at maguro you’re spending $14 for two pieces of uni! The atmosphere was comforting and service was quick and efficient. I look forward to my next meal here!Parking: Went on Saturday around 6 pm and there was metered parking right along the street the restaurant is located! Sundays =free parking!

probably the worst sushi i’ve ever had. i got one of their sushi platters and although the presentation was nice, the sashimi was quite flavorless and you could tell that it was frozen/defrosted not too long ago… as i bit into some pieces, the center was noticeably colder (a sign of recent defrosting). the other food seems fine/decent, but please skip the sushi at this place… horrible for the price.

One thing I appreciate about Maguro is its location. I was able to find free 2-hour parking on the street within 7 min of walking distance (on Winchester street). The shop is quite spacious and gives a casual vibe that makes me feel quite relaxed. My friend and I spent about $49.6 for a sushi deluxe plate, tako yaki, and the appetizer Uni shots, along with our 18% tips! I like the presentation of the appetizer, but I think the sushi deluxe presentation is better on the menu, so I was a bit disappointed when it was served. We were both happy with our food. The bathroom is clean, and the speed of the service was excellent!Parking: There are plenty of 2-hour free street parkings in Brookline area.

Really convenient and really tasty food! Was a big fan of the entire experience. I got the drunken noodles and they were perfect.
