I'll try to be nice since they were very busy on Christmas, but... here we go. I placed an order for pickup through their website for egg drop soup, vegetarian spring rolls and veggie lo mein. The website said 25 min. I show up and the restaurant is full of people waiting on their orders. The poor hostess was clearly overwhelmed taking calls and telling people the wait was over an hour. I asked if I'd get a text or email alert when my order was ready since I'd rather wait outside the restaurant, but she said I wouldn't. All in all, my food took closer to 45 min until it came out of the kitchen. Somehow, despite it coming fresh out of the kitchen, and a less than 10 minute walk back to my apartment, the food was NOT hot when I opened it up. How is that possible? Food must have been sitting around under a heat lamp or something. Lastly, the food quality is bad -- even as far as bad, greasy Chinese goes. Egg drop soup was gloopy -- almost like the broth itself was raw egg yolk -- and under-seasoned with almost no flavor at all. Egg rolls and lo mein were okay, but again somehow lacking in flavor/seasoning. I will say the le mein portion was quite large, so I'm giving 1 star for generous portions, but otherwise not much worth coming here for.

Went with family, incredibly long service, unsatisfactory cuisine and three of the orders never even came.

I visited Sichuan Gourmet three times. Among the dishes I have, I recommend: - Tan Tan (or dan dan) Noodles: they serve cold and spicy tan tan noodles that are not in soup. I was surprised because I am more familiar with tan tan noodles with soup but this was very delicious. - Mapo Tofu: you can't go wrong with this order and they do a good job - Kung Bao Chicken: I am not a big fan of kung bao chicken but theirs is very crispy and tasty - chengdu street food: It has an interesting "fire" taste and I recommend it if you want something spicy and salty I don't recommend: - Hot and sour soup - Double Cooked Bacon When I visit Sichuan, I am happy because I can order safe choices I like and explore many other dishes they offer.

We’ve been going to this place for a many, many years. Most of the time the food is good sometimes just ok. Today we ordered take out again, we always ask for brown rice with our dishes. The rice was actually spoiled. It smelled sour and it was slimy. We called and we told them, they said they would give us free rice next time we order. I don’t think there will be a next time.

I ordered online takeout from here and it was very quick and simple. I split the vegetable lo mein, general tso chicken, peking ravioli and crab rangoons. The chicken was good and the crab rangoons were some of the best I've had in Boston. The Peking ravioli was just ok, I've definitely had better before and same with the vegetable lo mein. They also gave only one soy sauce for the whole order which was pretty big. My boyfriend and I split everything and had plenty left over so they were pretty big servings.

We had the House Special Fried Rice. It was good. It was very very light and went down easy. I wish it was more spicy though. If you didn’t grab any chicken or shrimp in your fork, it might taste simply like white rice. It was dry and oily. Would recommend, 4/5.

Food was below mediocre, and despite the cheap prices it tasted incredibly artificial. The bok choy and sesame chicken were excellent, but the other dishes were mediocre at best.

If you like your food spicy, this is the place to be! A little on the pricy end but my god the food is 10/10! We got the F05. Fish Filets with Spicy Chili Sauce and B08. Shredded Dry Beef with Chili Sauce (?) with fried rice. The fish filets were definitely the star of the show. The sauce, the fish, the spice, it was just the perfect balance. Their mild option is pretty spicy so I'd definitely recommend starting with that. If you dine in, you get hot tea as well as fortune cookies! I also noticed they're on delivery apps. Will definitely be adding this to the list of comfort home-y food list!

Great place for family style Sichuan dishes. Love the ma-la (numbing and spicy) flavor. The fish filet with tofu and black pepper is a great dish.

Under staffed. The noodles were not fresh noodles. They use instant noodles. It did not taste good. Really they can do better and don't ruin Chinese food.

I have gone to this restaurant for several years and every time I'm very satisfied. Pan fried noodles and fried rice are excellent.

The food was not fresh. It took a long time to be served when I was the only one in the restaurant. The chicken was covered in something that made it taste unrecognizable. Don't order chicken and broccoli. I really don't know if that was chicken

My family was visiting from California (where authentic Chinese is abundant) and we had low expectations, but were so pleasantly surprised by this place! It was sad to see the big open dining room so empty, because you could taste the heart and authenticity in every dish! Even my very picky dad (born and raised in Chengdu) had no complaints. The chili oil dumplings and seafood tofu clay pot are a must!! Will definitely come back whenever I'm in Boston and craving a taste of home.

My only go to Chinese Restaurant, haven’t seen anything better.

This was really disappointing, especially in the hometown of Szechuan Garden, which was the finest Szechuan Chinese restaurant in the state. Really, ugh. I ordered two spicy Szechuan dishes, expecting them to be slathered in delicious Szechuan chili oil and actually, uh…spicy. Why advertise a dish as spicy if it isn’t? Are Brookline diners not intelligent enough to know what 2 chilis mean in a menu? Or to know what Szechuan food entails? Also, ordered House Fried Rice and it tasted like literally NOTHING. At least I am no longer in the mood for really great Chinese food. Thanks. I only ate because I was hungry. That’s it. Also, maybe teach your staff a few basic English terms, like “no plasic containers—NO PLASTIC—PAPER ONLY, PLEASE.” And, teach them to say, “Sorry, I do not understand,” instead of “OK, OK, OK.” It’s so not OK.
